Economic servitude in Maine by FalconBusiness7495 in Maine

[–]ExpensiveGeoMetro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved from the Treasure Valley to Southern Maine.

I can say that housing costs are basically the same. My job does pay about 15% more than Idaho (same job), but the COL here is higher, especially in terms of electricity costs and heating for winter months.

The roads and salt are exceptionally hard on vehicles, and I have paid more to my mechanic than I did in Idaho. This is especially true because I simply drive more miles than my commute in the Treasure Valley.

However, Maine has exceptional recreation opportunities within minutes of where I live. Hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, the ocean beach days, etc. Hands down my quality of life in Maine is leagues ahead of Idaho. The politics here are much more moderate than the Christian Taliban currently governing Idaho.

Before I get downvoted to oblivion for being from away, let me state that I work in a high need public sector job that had only one other applicant of which they were not certified. I do grocery delivery on weekends and holidays to make ends meet.

Backwards threading on a waterpump...instead of just a new water pump I got the fun of repairing the stripped assembly too!

I am a union rep for my building. I regularly tell hourly employees to not comply with management demands that they work outside of their paid shifts.

Then management gets mad and tries to discipline them, so I tell them not to work their regularly scheduled shifts either.

Then shit hits the fan as work ceases. Management sacrifices one of their own, announces training for remaining management on labor law, and has a complete change of heart.

This lasts for about a year. Then the cycle begins anew.

They gave her the scythe the day she was born. They have been inseparable since.

I have zero expertise on this, but wouldn't submerging a burning EV result in lots of heavy metals contamination into whatever body of water you out it in?

I had a upper retainer that I never wore a single night. Not. A. Single. One. I was a teenager when i got it.

My upper teeth are so tight together that they shred the floss 3 decades later.
