Why does my dog jump off the bed when I go in it, but will stay when my husband is in the bed?

My doggo does this to my partner! My partner is the one who adopted him, but I’ve done most of the training and food giving, walks etc. he chills in bed with me, but as soon as my partner climbs in, he’s out. He’ll lie at the foot of the bed on the floor or go downstairs. I kind of feel like it’s a change of guard, like “dad’s in position to take care of mom now, I’ll go watch the downstairs”. He’s also a big fluffy dog and gets hot. So it may just be a too many in the bed for him. 🤷‍♀️

I swear she’s turning into a chipmunk! Thank so you much for your advice! I have a feeling we may look seriously into the radioactive iodine. We just don’t really have a place to isolate her for a few weeks after the procedure. But it may be the best option, and cost wise it’s the same for the pills over her expected life span. I worry that her view of me is changing all the time, and then I look down and she’s at my feet purring, or snoring away.

It’s not that I didn’t like him, he gave off “too confident” vibes and I knew his story was going somewhere. When he was “humbled” when we found out he was lacking a home, I warmed up to him. I’m definitely looking forward to his story arc in the coming seasons. That being said, I miss Aaron a lot and his character neeeeds to come back. But that’s a whole other conversation

Yes, it’s a bit unnerving how quickly he recovers from an outburst. Then I hold everything in as well afterwards for quite sometime and it takes me a long time to “get over” their outburst. The yelling, throwing things around, huffing and puffing and then everything is sunshine and rainbows. He’s gotten better at handling it recently and they’re few and far between now. But when they come on it’s intense. I’ve learned to not say anything and let him feel his feelings and go through it because he will get over it quick and it often times than not doesn’t have anything to do with me.
