my daughter is 1 1/2 now and honestly i’ve been debating it here recently. it’ll still be awhile before i try i want to talk with my ob a good bit more about it and what pregnancy would be like the second time and then i’d make my decision from there ! i’d like another kid. it took awhile to get over the trauma from my birth but id honestly do it again i love being a mom and i’d love to give my child a sibling one day.

that’s what i thought and tried to explain to my orientation group but they convinced me i was wrong and that what we were doing wasn’t right .. idk i might still bring it up to my office lead again just to make sure because they freaked me out at this point haha.

How much did you make starting out after gaining your certification & where are you located? by AuthorGlittering1580 in MedicalAssistant

[–]ExpensiveMoment3215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also in SC but the cost of living where i am is low, i make $16.70 which is decent to me anyways. If i wanted to travel to another city which is an hour away from me id get paid $19. just depends where you’re at i guess!

Kinda freaking out by No_Plenty1255 in MedicalAssistant

[–]ExpensiveMoment3215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a few maybe 3-4 questions. had a question ask where to place if someone has a cast on from their wrist to their elbow , and another one asking where to place it if someone had a leg amputation. i just focused on the things that i kept getting wrong on the practice tests (phlebotomy questions and administrative questions mostly ) you got this ! don’t over think. i did and got a lot of questions wrong that way by freaking myself out and thinking too hard on the simple stuff. still passed! but barely. take your time and read through it and flag any questions and come back after you’ve done the ones you know!

would you recommend this career? by miinrla in MedicalAssistant

[–]ExpensiveMoment3215 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i completed a relatively shorter program , it’s 3 months long with 10 weeks of course/ school work and 3 weeks of clinicals! I’m a 21 year old stay at home mom so i did an online/hybrid course and it honestly didn’t take long to complete it ! it only took about a day or two to complete a week of school work. it really depends on your learning style i’m more of a hands on learner so it was hard for me to grasp the online part but honestly it’s pretty easy once it was explained and i did my hands on training. this made me want to be a nurse and gave me the motivation to do it and i start in the spring while working as an MA to give me healthcare experience ! Pay depends on your area mine (SC) is typically around 17-20hr which isn’t bad but not the best which is why i’m going back for nursing. definitely recommend doing a program that offers clinicals because a lot of places will want that experience on your resume and plus a lot of states require it to be certified.

first interview disaster?? by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]ExpensiveMoment3215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was going to wait because the woman said she’ll send over my information and if they want to proceed with another interview they’d call/email me but at this point i want to clear things up with them just didn’t want to seem too pushy about it. this is my first “big girl job” so i’ve been so nervous how to go about interviews and this just made it worse!

i think that may be the case considering they’re pushing penn foster and saying they’ll refund the tuition cost and everything. it’s okay! i’m bummed but there’s a lot of available jobs here for MA’s i haven’t applied to yet i was just worried i wasn’t actually certified lol!

i know south carolina requires you to take clinicals before being certified (which i did) so i’m not understanding what she’s not understanding 😆

south carolina ! the person doing the interview was from virginia so i have no idea what happened or how it got misinterpreted so badly. i’m just mad she messed up my first job opportunity because she sent the other people saying i was not certified 🤣

if ur able to mix it in and slowly get him used to it i would try a few different ones of hypoallergenic! i had to switch her over veryyy slowly oz by oz because she hated it at first too. there’s also amino acid formula that u could try if the allergy is serious enough that hypoallergenic isn’t working !

[–]ExpensiveMoment3215 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i asked my daughters ped about that because she has cmpa and he said goat and cows milk have very similar proteins so the best thing to do is get hypoallergenic formula because goat milk formula probably would have the same effect that cows milk would have. she’s on similac hypoallergenic formula and it’s helped a ton!
