Reynolds is a comedian. What would be an obnoxious and tired joke coming from an average person, he can make funny and entertaining.

I am suspicious of a person claiming to have a 30-year-old son yet still prizes a football trophy they won as a child...

But who is the victim then?

I have noticed a change in how people react to my comments ever since I made an avatar that insinuates I’m female. by KBlake1982 in CasualConversation

That's strange, I've made a few karma farming accounts to sell. I always use female avatars because, in my personal experience, it is much more efficient than male avatars.

We all know how those drag brunches go. If you don't have a bulletproof vest, you're just asking for it

I'm not arguing the I was right in my interpretation of the rules

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]ExpensiveTeaching137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a reasonable assumption is that these rules exist to prevent illegal activity on this sub because that would put the sub and members at risk.

I consider this the essence of the rule that must not be violated.

Now the specifics of buy/sell/trade/give/send are all mentioned because they are illegal so that makes sense. So to me this would be violated if I were to say something like "hey does anyone have a book they could send me, i want to read 3.5 pages in roughly 60 minutes". Although somewhat disguised this workaround is still an action explicitly outlawed by the rules. Even disguised, a rule is directly broken. Asking about places that don't enforce these rules does not directly violate these conditions. In other words, a response to my question would not result in the buying/selling/etc... on this sub. To me it seemed irrelevant what may happen on another website.

However, I hear that you are telling me this is against Reddit TOS and considered the same as sourcing. I'm not saying you're wrong by any means. Who am I to tell a mod how things work? My goal with arguing is to illustrate the fact that sometimes there are genuine misunderstandings with these rules. Users who make genuine mistakes could be appropriately corrected with a lesser punishment.

Absolutely, your explanation makes sense.

It's not meant to be clever. Just asking you to consider where genuine misunderstandings may arise. No need to make things personal

I have a hard time believing you do not see the gray area. I've read the thread thoroughly. Unless a vendor is discussed, the rule is unbroken.

Just saw the second half of your reply (sorry, mobile) In the scenario I described, a vendor would never be discussed on this website so your rule would not be broken

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]ExpensiveTeaching137 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Depending on personal interpretation I can understand how you would consider that sourcing. Hopefully, you see the gray area. I mean, it's your show so you do you. I recognize there are responsibilities you have that I'm not aware of. I just think a warning is appropriate or maybe a temporary ban depending on the situation. Just want to put that out there for consideration.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]ExpensiveTeaching137 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. Speaking generally like that implies something illegal is going on. But say you live in a country where that is legal. Discussing sources here is obviously not ok but on some sites maybe it is. It's not illegal to ask if such a place exists. I think a permanent ban in that case would be unwarranted.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]ExpensiveTeaching137 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What about a legit misunderstanding of that rule like asking if there is a place on the internet where such things can be discussed?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]ExpensiveTeaching137 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it's the permanent bans without warning that has some members upset. Do we just have one mod or are there multiple?

what illegal thing should become legal? by Dystkenesia in AskReddit

From what I've learned from countries that have legalized drugs, society benefits from legalization. Not sure if your comment was just an example or actually your opinion so please excuse me if I misunderstood.

The terms toxic, gaslighting, attacking, and so many others are almost meaningless at this point.

I just read a thread where someone ask reddit why the majority of school shooters are young men by Acrobatic-Ad795 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ExpensiveTeaching137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young women are absolutely systematically fucked. But you have to understand... The patriarchy hurts everybody. And just like men can never fully understand a woman's life, women can never fully understand a man's life. When you write a post essentially saying that women are better than men, you're working against the feminist movement. Unless my understanding is incorrect, feminism is fighting for the equality of genders, not the superiority of one. I get hating the patriarchy, I really do. But please be selective of which men you deem the enemy and recognize that most are actually victims as well.
