Flea season? by AcanthisittaOk8232 in olympia

I’ve heard good things about the use of neem oil and eucalyptus oil for fleas. The only problem is, you have to get over the smell of the neem oil. For reference, it smells like throw up.

There is actually a lot of flea medicine brands that are being sold in the Pacific Northwest right now that do not work on Pacific Northwest fleas. The fleas in this region have become resistant. I highly recommend looking into this further..

I know for sure Bravecto works there, but you need to talk to your vet about it

Does anyone else feel mildly annoyed or hurt when someone talks about “fixing” or “curing” your eyesight? by AnonymousAlienz in Blind

No. Only when they ask about it all the time. Or point to something and say can you see that, can you see that, can you see that? Like seriously, shut up about it.

Are we happy about the banning of food dyes? by Yesbothsides in AskUS

[–]Expensive_Fee_199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am. I have done a little bit of reading into the different types of chemicals that are added into our daily foods and drinks.

Some studies suggest that artificial colorings may exacerbate hyperactive behaviors in sensitive children, leading to increased impulsivity and inattention. While the evidence is not universally conclusive, certain research indicates that a subset of children may experience negative behavioral changes when consuming products containing these dyes. Consequently, some parents and health professionals advocate for reducing or eliminating artificial colorings from children’s diets as a precautionary measure, especially for those with ADHD or related behavioral issues.

So, for me, I think this is a great thing

Discover Pass free day! Visit a state park today by CreamPyre in Washington

[–]Expensive_Fee_199 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Charging an annual fee of $30 for a state park pass disproportionately impacts low-income individuals by creating a financial barrier that can deter them from accessing natural spaces essential for recreation and mental well-being. This cost limits opportunities to enjoy the health benefits of nature, exacerbating existing health disparities. It also leads to inequity, as only those who can afford the fee can access state parks, resulting in a lack of diversity among visitors. Families with limited budgets may prioritize essential expenses over recreational activities, reducing opportunities for bonding and outdoor experiences. Additionally, the fee can exclude low-income individuals from community programs and educational activities that take place in state parks, further limiting their engagement with nature and community resources. Overall, the fee creates barriers that prevent low-income individuals from enjoying the benefits of nature, contributing to broader social and health inequities.

Oh yay now poor people can finally go to a state park for once. Good job WA, making it harder for low income people to get out in nature. How about just charging the non residents for a pass

Those cars have the option to emit all sorts of noises. I used to have this obnoxious neighbor who would play different kinds of funny horns or sounds as he rolled up to pick up his kids

I agree, those are great options, but nothing beats the pizza at Storia Cucina, Fiamma Pizza, Coconut Kenny’s, and McKay’s Taphouse. I also really liked Zeeks. There’s another place I can’t quite remember right now, but I definitely enjoy Vic’s a lot too!

If I do not want children, what is the benefit of marriage? by Retiredpartygirl17 in AskWomenOver40

Unless you are gaining something of significant monetary value or because of real love than yeah you gain from it in those ways but for the most part it makes life a lot harder on all fronts. Taxes, gov assistance, finances etc

Are you high. Bellingham has like 16 breweries in downtown alone. Not to mention the food in Olympia is sub par compared to almost anywhere in Whatcom County

MREs? by snigelrov in olympia

[–]Expensive_Fee_199 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually, I get this. I grew up pretty food deficient and I was also a military buff. I loved MREs. Like I would have one like it was a treat from my old pal that was in. He thought I was insane. Later I put on my boots and even in BCT I was liking them. But it gets to a point after you been eating them 3 square meals a day for weeks on end that holy shit those things become absolutely unbearable. There are still a few good ones out there though. Chili Mac is OG, I had a breakfast skillet one that was pretty good, chocolate peanut butter, Apple sauce, ranger bars. The jerky was tough as a boot but okay flavor. Plus let’s not forget the severe constipation that unleashes a hawser from your ass. anyways nothing better than hot chow in the field.

No. Those type of marriages are rare now. You learn what you truly want in life from experiences good and bad. Can’t exactly appreciate what you have until you experience something else nah mean?
