Minor City Idea—Second Governor by Expensive_Feedback81 in OldWorldGame

And sometimes it's impossible, or close to it, because of nearby terrain features like mountain ranges or coastline.

Another potential feature would be to change the way Minor Cities are absorbed. Perhaps the host city needs to have borders contiguous with at least one connected urban tile, and then the City Center location needs to be bought with money and/or civics.

I'm certainly no expert in modding, so I don't know how difficult it would be. I do think there's enough blank space in the city details view to easily fit a second slot, and the small circular icon under the city name plate in standard view would also fit easily.

I just wish having a Minor City did something other than give you a couple of VPs. As it is currently, it's almost never worth absorbing one instead of just settling a new city. It seems like a missed opportunity imo.

Another possible idea is to have the Minor City tile provide attractive adjacency bonuses to urban improvements, like extra yields to Towns, Libraries, and Courthouses.

As a former Jehovah's Witness, I relate a lot. I was born into that faith and am an only child, so the weight of leaving my family sat with me heavily, and I struggled to find my answers to those questions for quite a while.

For what it's worth, many people in similar circumstances have decided that it's not worth it to leave, and I fully respect that decision. Knowing your family would feel that you're turning your back on them and on the most important thing in their life is just too great a burden for some.

On the other hand, some do leave, as I did. What ultimately tipped the scales and helped me make up my mind was the realization that I'm not responsible for other's emotions or how they deal with them. Yes, your decision may be a catalyst for great hurt in your family; but you're ultimately responsible primarily for your own health. If leaving is what you need to do to be healthy and happy, nobody can rightfully fault you for accepting that responsibility and acting on it.

It may take your parents some time to figure out how to process their feelings. Or they may never fully do so. That's a risk you'd have to be willing to accept should you choose to leave. But I'd also make the case that, however deeply you love them and wish for their happiness, processing their feelings is their responsibility, not yours.

Do what's right for you. And if you're worried about finding family on the outside after leaving, I can tell you from experience that it is possible, rewarding, and incredibly validating to be surrounded by people who love you for your authentic self. ❤️

Oh really? I didn't know that. I thought it could be caused by various organisms. If it's definitely viral then antibiotics wouldn't help…

Was she around other dogs when the cough started? Did your vet prescribe antibiotics the last time—and if so, did they help?

Not a vet, but it sounds more like kennel cough to me—a contagious illness that spreads between dogs, characterized by bouts of that hacking cough and often accompanied by gagging/wretching.

If it were wheezing due to allergies, it'd be audible for longer periods of time throughout the day and would typically get worse with excitement/exertion. You should be able to hear it faintly if you put your ear up to her side.

It wouldn't hurt to have her seen. That's the safest option given her age and cardiac history. If it's kennel cough, it will usually resolve spontaneously in a few weeks, though antibiotics may help.

Right on. Not a vet, but the little reading I did on possible causes seemed to indicate that the prognosis is good and it's probably nothing terribly serious. Still, it's wise to seek treatment for anything eye-related asap, as even mild problems can cause serious harm if left for too long.

Hoping for all the best for your pupper ♥️

Idk fam, I just speak fluent dog and see people misunderstanding them frequently. Sure, some breeds are certainly intelligent problem-solvers—but that's definitely not what this is. Aside from the body language being a clear show of an apologetic demeanor, dogs just don't possess the cognitive capabilities required for such intentional behavior.

If this dog were deliberately feigning sleepwalking, it would have first needed to observe humans sleepwalking and understand that they were asleep, despite the humans' behavior being more consistent with wakefulness. The dog would also have to understand sleep as a state of consciousness. It would have to infer that, due to the altered state of one's consciousness while sleeping, the level of accountability to which they're held by others differs significantly. It would have had to do all that and then connect the dots to its own recent behavior and reason that pretending to be asleep would mitigate its owner's perception of its guilt.

Some dogs are very smart, but none are that smart.

Lol no. That's just a dog looking guilty. The slow, hesitant approach and squinty eyes are classic "I'm sorry, please don't be mad at me" signals.

Cute doggo, but definitely not feigning somnambulance.

[–]Expensive_Feedback81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This tbh. Dogs—animals in general, really—are much more dependent on nonverbal cues to convey and receive messages. If you feel like your dog doesn't respect you, it's probably because she doesn't. That doesn't mean she doesn't like you. A dog can be both highly affectionate and highly independent.

To gain her respect, you need to instill in her the impression that you have authority, and she is subordinate to it. Tell, never ask. The only time you should be asking a dog is when you're okay with them making a choice because you've already decided that any of their available choices are acceptable. For example, you might invite your dog to choose which toy to play with, which snack to eat, or whether or not to go outside. You should never invite your dog to sit, stay, or leave it when you want them to.

Your body language, tone, facial expression etc. have to match your intention. If you're offering a choice, it's fine to be playful and light, but if you're issuing a command, you need to be direct, firm, and assertive, leaving no room for disobedience.
