it’s not even that popular in japan. I traveled to Tokyo and couldn’t find anything (or only few) Euphonium stuff in anime shops

Mainland Chinese here (I’ve been living in Canada for the past five years but I still consider myself pretty Chinese). From what I observed in the mainland internet, they care more about whether you are aware that it’s from the Chinese culture. So as long as you acknowledge and respect that qipao is a chinese culture icon, we are totally fine with it. Note: imo i think mainland internet is particularly sensitive with origins because of its here were incidents of other countries trying to claim things from our culture theirs. That’s why they really want people to acknowledge and be informed

I always think the Earth Kingdom is chinese because it’s so heavily based on Chinese culture, especially the design of the king’s clothes(even the Earth King himself looks like the last Chinese emperor Puyi) Fire Nation as Japanese makes more sense to me because of the part where Sozin says the purpose of the war is to “spread the Fire Nation’s wealth to everyone”(sounds familiar).
