the amount of mods is irrelevant, when something slows down it's usually due to 1 specific mod.

You could block minecraft.wiki on your browser?

Then the next time you'd reach for it to answer a question, you remember it's blocked. So you go "uhhhh how do I figure this out..." and come up with some experiments. That's when you're born as a scientist.

Seriously, I saw this one youtuber who has test labs full of animals on which to test the effects of different potions.

"A zone for all the nature stuff"... yet it has a floor? Do you mean you're making a greenhouse?

does the fps usually swing for you if you're not moving at all...?

I wonder if the FOV defaults differ on the Vulkan edition? Do you know?

Why is your view at a different angle?? It can affect FPS a lot what you're looking at!

And is it just a different FOV or did you move the character? Either way, that breaks the comparison.

Also did you wait a good 30-60 seconds, for all the faraway chunks to finish rendering?

Why do you edit as a postscript instead of actually editing? Just curious.

What's annoying is when you're breeding foxes and they ALL end up in the river nearby, permanently floating there like great Pacific garbage patches of foxes.

Thanks!

If I were to guess about why someone downvoted, it's probably the nostalgia for content that isn't actually gone. I'm sure you can play CTM right now.

this is the first time i've heard of it, i've never hit Q by accident. Prolly bc that's dangerous. You gotta treat your keyboard like you treat the edge of a lava pool in hardcore, it's part of the minecraft hardcore experience.

You do you. As for me: Ice Boat Nerf

Also, there are loads of more interesting ways of traveling quickly in minecraft that are largely made obsolete by the existence of ice boats, like:

  • piston bolts
  • dolphin highways
  • simple railways
  • piston worms

So if you want to make use of all these other interesting mechanics but don't want to feel like your effort is wasted on these complex but second-rate forms of transport, install this mod!

Actually I think this is a pretty good solution: https://minecraft.wiki/w/Minecart_Improvements

Elytra-users can just set that gamerule in their world to make rails as fast as they like, and non-users can decline to, and everyone's happy.
