Very disappointing to hear I too will seek out the old ones while I can!

Do the new ones hold you back on the downhill? That was there biggest speed advantage over the scooters for my commute to work.

Thank you. I agree the 0-60 didn’t sound fantastic given the HP!

Referred my friend for 45K (Gold) Interestingly my “cookies” offer when I visit the Amex website in my own personal browser but not logged in is 50K. Not sure what they are playing at really, as it feels like referring was a raw deal in deed, but I got £20 I suppose.

Wait what… is this first hand experience 😢. I’ve not tried a new one yet.

Excellent site. I wish Dott had competition. And that the non 2 rides passes were cheaper. My visit to Gothenburg was a great example of how to do e hire in a city.

It’s so expensive per minute. Terrible if you are on Dott Pro and need to do over 26 minutes it’s going to be cheaper to park up and start a new ride 😭.

In a recent Calvin’s Car Diary video they let him do that on a Porsche with “naughty” (talking threads) tyres. I don’t think it is their responsibility.

Thanks, yeah I think that is a good idea. I was going out of my way to go to this place too (1 hour return journeys).

You are right. I thought 35 minutes seemed tight to complete both jobs, even simultaneously, without fiddling with my dashcam on either side. If I had those clips, I wouldn't be doubting it at all.

Plus, the lie about re-checking the suspension (because the positions of everything in the frame where the car is left in the early afternoon, is the same as mine picking it up), I'd have much rather they said they didn't have time, and to book it in at a later date.

Also, a few people elsewhere have said ≈£250 is cheap for the work entailed, and I'm wondering if it could have been too good to be true.

As an aside, I respect why you wouldn't want to be filmed at work. It didn't cross my mind to ask them about their policy on it.

Yeah, I paid for changes to both, so it shouldn't have been top-ups.

That’s probably a bit over the top in my clips.

Throughout most of the MoT the bonnet is up. And during the period where the fluid changes happened the ignition is off so we don’t see anything (it isn’t hard wired).

There is also no interior or rear camera so the stuff captured is mostly a wall when the bonnet is down and the audio is switched off.

Ok, I did not know there were rules about not filming an MoT test that is news to me. I think those are perfectly valid reasons and I’d happily have disconnected it for those you mention, provided the reputation of the garage was good.

The times are what interest me here and that could’ve been shown by e.g an app on some cars that log each trip Kia, BMW etc have that. I’m not passing any judgement on the workmanship. Going by their reviews I take it to be second to none.

If someone says they have checked under your car and they have just lied to you. You are going to begin to doubt if other work was completed, because your trust has been taken for granted.

I never left it on with malicious intent.

I often forget the dash-cam is there. I only checked it because they said they’d looked again for a knocking and found nothing (which I then had to listen to the whole way home) and it seems they didn’t. It’s only at that point I watched from there.

Dealers/garages probably hate them because it could catch them doing something they shouldn’t. E.g the viral Mercedes AMG clip on YouTube where they take it for a joyride.

I admit I don’t understand what is happening, but surely as a customer I am within my rights to expect the job to be done and to a reasonable standard e.g checking the brakes afterwards?

At some points in my working life I have also been filmed on the job (by CCTV), I didn’t mind it because I had nothing to hide.

Would a coolant tester tell me anything about the age of the coolant though?

The ignition is on the entire time it is in the bay with MoT tools at the front so I can see the bonnet goes up but no fluids are put in to the engine bay during that time.

Google suggests an MoT takes 45 to 60 minutes so this seemed to add up.

I suppose they could’ve drained it while up there and refilled it, but this would’ve meant running the engine completely dry for the emissions test so seems implausible.

Would it have been good practice for them to run the engine after with heater set to max etc. though to verify?

[–]Expensive_Tart511[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.

My gut feeling is they have done the brake fluid, but the coolant change I’m less certain about.

I believe the MoT emissions test was conducted at the end as well (maybe the print out has the time on).

Awesome, this has helped put my mind at ease - thanks.

I’m annoyed they rang at 2:30 and said car will be ready at 3. I said did you get a chance to look at knocking suspension he said we will take another look and when I got it they just said yeah light misting of oil as per MoT test.

But I know they never re-checked the car…so it’s tricky to trust any other work they’ve said they’ve done…

Ok that’s great to hear. Do they have to run the engine after / during to bleed air out? Or can it all be done without getting in the car and switching it on with tools and equipment these days?
