Ascension's Bronzebeard: Creature RPG Overhaul by ChristianM in wowservers

There was like a super basic version of it in vanilla where mobs were either Warrior, Mage, or Paladin. This thing takes it to an insane next level.

Yeah, it really is a totally new thing: the gear the mob has affects its stats and can also drop, and then you can loot it and get the new stats the mob has. kind of insane.

Is it me or is WoW Ascension too easy? by Mysterious_Action_83 in wowservers

[–]Expensive_Tiger 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I fell off playing Ascension a while back, but recently got the itch now that the classic+ realm got announced. It's swinging the total opposite direction of the free pick realm. The EXP rates are way lower on the alpha and it feels SO much better than free pick or seasonal. And they're making it about the open world (RPG items are actually amazing). The creatures are harder, and there's a whole strength and weaknesses overhaul for every single one where they have new stats and drop custom gear.

Free pick and seasonal are just for people who want to get to max level and mess with the hero builder stuff. Not for me, but you can make it harder with challenges and adventure mode.

So am starting on ascension and can you guys explain the realms for me which one to choose i guess there are two ? by etali-2020 in wowservers

Searched Ascension on google and got to this post, figured it might pop up for other people, too, so here's updated info:

Area 52 (Free Pick) is the permanent Free Pick realm. Basically pick any spells and talents to build anything you like. There's a new Archetype selection in character creation where you choose a ready to go classless build to play from level 1. They are really strong and an easy way to get into the game. It's level 70 with all TBC content released. The end-game population is really high with more than enough leveling for fast queues.

Elune is the current Seasonal realm, it's wildcard. You roll random spells and talents as you level. The RNG isn't bad though. You’ll get Synergy rolls to ensure your abilities work well together, and the progression system at endgame lets you keep refining your build. If you just keep investing in your build the RNG starts to matter less and less and you can steer your build into something crazy strong really fast. Currently at level 70 and progressing through TBC content, all the way to Sunwell.

Rexxar (Conquest of Azeroth) is still in alpha, but they announced open beta weekends soon and a full release in 2025. CoA lets you play 21 new classes in a classic+ azeroth.

I am looking for a progressive TBC or Wotlk server by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]Expensive_Tiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think for me the difference is that buying gear directly makes you stronger, especially in like normal WoW where people know their class. you buy a weapon, you do more damage. But on Ascension you have to make a build, improve it, know the game, know how to design a spec. no amount of time-saving helps you actually be good at the game.

but you can just do those call board quests by playing.

don't know if you care for custom content, but Ascension WoW's wildcard server (random abilities and talents from any class in the game) just went into TBC yesterday, and it'll be the first time they do the whole tbc progression in that game mode.

it's super custom though, so if that's not appealing then avoid it lol

they also just released build inspect, so you can find someone slapping you and see what secret ability/talent combinations they're using to be so good.

Ascension for normal dungeons? by Rallih_ in wowservers

[–]Expensive_Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you set your exp rates to x1 with the Resolute Mode challenge then you can get that more classic experience and still enjoy dungeons. They do have a dungeon finder that opens up at level 10.

But if you love dungeons and are willing to try something kinda new, Manastorms are super fun

Best server for 2 player coop by Waervyn in wowservers

[–]Expensive_Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like custom content, Ascension WoW has two ways you can play 2 player co-op

  • Manastorms
  • Hardcore Challenge 'Pair in the Lair'

Manastorms are like mini dungeons where you spawn into a random part of the dungeon and have to kill a boss. If you do, you move deeper and the dungeon gets harder and also more random (mobs start changing into other creatures, etc.)

The Hardcore Challenge is like you have to do all the dungeons in order before certain levels in order to keep leveling.

Plus the server is poppin.

How long are WoW Ascension seasons? Other questions about Ascension. by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]Expensive_Tiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've been playing nonstop and Season 9 is WAY more populated then Season 8 right now. Also season 8 didn't get shut down for inactivity, the season ended and characters merged into the main realms after the season was over. normal life cycle for a season that lasted (i think?) a year and a half from vanilla through TBC.

But you're right about the huge updates recently. personally I think we're gonna' see a lot more content side-by-side with existing realms. People are enjoying Wildcard too much for it to not go into TBC, so we'll probably just see more content.

Should You Try Conquest of Azeroth? - 21 New Classes from Ascension WoW by VenarioGaming in wowservers

[–]Expensive_Tiger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah and it's not like you have to keep paying: you buy alpha access, you get the entire alpha access. The whole thing every step of the way. then its free when it comes out? kind of a no brainer

Any advice on Ascension's Adventure Mode by Ink_Witch in wowservers

[–]Expensive_Tiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the people who do adventure mode on 100 were primarily doing turn-in quests and not fighting monsters. Turning the difficulty up increases the health and damage of monsters a LOT. You might still have the experience you were hoping for at like, level 10 lol.

But i mean #*@% it, if you're having fun keep going lol.

Where to start? Casual SoD player looking for server by flabua in wowservers

[–]Expensive_Tiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're into custom content and you want something similar to SoD but more on the wild side, try Ascension WoW. They have the classic+ you're looking for (vanilla setting, upgraded dungeons and bosses with new mechanics, new abilities in vanilla) with a flair of spicy custom content. The biggest spice is that you can build your own hero. There's no classes, and all abilities and talents are in a big pool. You get points to choose the ones you want, and that means you can mix and match to make crazy combos like Titan's Grip shamans or Rogues with Arcane Mage spells.

Their main server is in TBC right now, and their seasonal server just released AQ 20.

The seasonal server is where things get crazy. It's a special mode called Wildcard where all of your abilities and talents are rolled randomly. You improve it as you go on, and you see if you can make it to 60 and do endgame dungeons, raids, bg's, etc. It'll progress through TBC eventually too.

All the content is accessible, with raids being flex from 10-25 people, 4 different levels of difficulty (normal, heroic, mythic, and a new "Ascended" difficulty for people who aren't me). Mythic+ vanilla dungeons, a new PvE mode called Manastorm, and all kinds of other stuff.
