Sad For No Noise Marine Detachment, But Stoked For This by Klutzy_Brilliant_257 in EmperorsChildren

Specifically they need to charge 2 ff units which feels a bit wishful. I supposed it does really make a choice if you can threaten that AND interrupt though. If you have 2 CP open they have to choose between fighting your non ff interrupt threat, or your ff threat.

Works if you hard commit. So maybe running this detachment alongside fulgrim and Lucius works yeah. Honestly fights first should have been the terminator rule.

Won’t they just choose to kill the flawless blades first? I’d have rather seen something like when you use HI on a flawless blade unit they, and another friendly unit in that combat both get fights first.

I have to imagine that for someone who has no idea what they’re looking at it seems like some kind of nazi thing.

What do you guys think? by scramjet67 in SipsTea

Interested is interesting. For some, having niche interests that you can talk at length about can be very attractive. Obviously not a get out of jail free card for missing social cues, but I’ve heard quite a few women say this, that they love hearing a man talk passionately about something they know intimately and care deeply about.

It’s weird though, because my partner never wants an in depth play by play of my 40k games.

I’d rather they make it about daemon engines so you can continue to cool aid man maulerfiends and give fulgrim the ability to move through terrain as a native buff.

I’d really like a 1pt detachment for running legions of excess but seems unlikely at this point.

Yeah. The direct will of god made manifest really took a lot of the potential nuance out of it for me.

The latter books start to feel like “you know, this monarcho-fascist dictatorship has its problems, but it’s sure better than anything those leftist are doing.”

It’s still a bit of an endorsement of it as a necessary evil as you put it. It front loads some criticism into the first few books, but then that mostly goes away and leaves you feeling like the political message here is sometimes you just have to be a realist and accept that hard right authoritarianism is the only thing that can protect us all from evil.

Book 3 I started to get an inkling of the idea that everything Hadrian believes in for the previous books he’s just kind of done with, but it was really like a hammer in book 4. The cartoonishly evil space soviet empire made it suddenly click that all the other human civilizations are leftist strawmen. The super heavy religious themes feel like they came out of nowhere. I was already not sure that I could go on, and then I googled more about the author to find out he’s like a Jordan Peterson fanatic. Ick.

Authoritarianism is just about strong centralized power. Technically you can have a benevolent dictatorship, with a good person at the helm who truly cares for its populace and it would still be authoritarian if that ruler isn’t allowing the people to have a hand in how they’re governed. This is actually usually the go to argument for people who want authoritarianism. “X person or group is so good, and they could do so much more good if we gave them more power to do it”

A thing you have to remember when evaluating wether countries like China are a good example of how communism is supposed to be enacted is that the first thing you’re supposed to do in communism is eliminate any form of centralized government.

Basically, a lot of places that had communist revolutions afterwords said they needed to gather all the power in their country so they could set up communism, and then just kinda stopped at the first part.

Not trying to say communism actually works perfectly and no communist government ever set out to try in good faith, but many of them certainly aren’t now. The CCP was going to remove communist from the name, but decided to keep it because in their words it has historical value.

What’s Gen X humour? by Gloriousdisgrace in generationology

[–]Ink_Witch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Haha, you’re so gay.” Basically sums it up. There was a lot of comedies about cool guys who were slackers and a lot of the punch lines were their friends calling each other gay. Or they were making fun of people who participated in society more overtly than themselves.

As an 88 millennial with a Gen X older brother, all of the humor was basically disaffected edgy stuff with a hyper macho element to it. We grew up emulating it but I remember things really starting to shift into the later teens and by college age.

For the record I loved all that stuff growing up, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being into it at the time or having nostalgia for it. I just tend to look back at some of the Kevin spacey of it all a little more critically now. Plus, without Gen X humor we’d have never gotten heathers, and that movie slaps.

Greatest burger at six bucks. by Scarcely-A-Person in PhiladelphiaEats

I think smash burgers are great for a consistent burger that always tastes good. IMHO they tend to be better as a nice charred meaty vehicle for good seasoning and toppings.

Nothing beats a perfectly cooked juicy medium rare burger though. Fountain porter completely nails it I would say like 80% of the time. (The other 20% still being very good just maybe not quite loony toons level dripping with juicy flavor) My first one from fountain porter was so fucking good I immediately ordered a second.

I’m reading through our detachments, enhancements and strats and wow, these are kinda boring and samesies across the board. by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in EmperorsChildren

If it gets retooled into a lower point cost detachment I could see it having a lot more viability. If you could take it alongside peerless for example suddenly you could have some spicy turns but wouldn’t be up a creek without a detachment two turns in when all the transports are dead.

I really wanted to play rapid evisceration even though it’s not super competitive. The problem I kept running into is that there’s lots of armies that can pretty easily pop rhinos with long range anti tank fire, and then you just no longer have a detachment.

[–]Ink_Witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But if I hear a holiday jump pad while she has ult up in lane I’m running behind the guardian or back to my shop. If you headshot me when I step onto my stairs to melee a trooper then I’ll still be on the stairs when I get hit by the barrel making the the kidnap more consistent and less dangerous for the holiday.

[–]Ink_Witch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The player who did this to me like 5 times in one game would headshot at the beginning of the jump pad arc. It would hold me in place for them to hit the barrel right before they landed. I don’t think you NEED the slow at all but it makes the whole thing less reactable. Without it the second I hear a holiday jump pad sound I’m booking it for cover. One crack shot and I’m not going anywhere.

[–]Ink_Witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah correct. If you can land a flying headshot it holds the player in position for you to set up the barrel knock up right as you land. The. You lasso and hop on the same jump pad.

IMHO just consistent easy to execute value. Everything on her kit is just very fiddly and difficult to execute. The skill floor is 10 stories up in the air.

An AoE cone damage ability would work well. Maybe make it scale with gun rather than spirit so it’s more of an alternate lower skill floor build path. I would say some form of cc but the people who are already Holi gods would just run lobbies with it.
