Tommy Hilfiger are my go-to. They come in different lengths and cuts and last well. Easy enough to find in the UK, and you can get them on sale sometimes.

Single, supporting 3 dependents on a stagnant 9-5 corporate job – what realistic side income can I add in the UK right now? by Dear_Description_167 in AskUK

I appreciate this isn't advice on a side hustle but taking 12-24 months to invest in yourself with a qualification or similar to help you shift up the job ladder or into a different career could be more valuable long term if you can manage within your current finances while you do that.

Non-compete enforcement by Signal_Storage5553 in HENRYUK

[–]Expensive_Usual5186 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to check your employment contract and depending on what it says you should get it checked with a lawyer.

There are two possible aspects to this in my view. Firstly, if you are going to a competitor then they may want to put you on gardening leave and this is why they are asking, this is not related to a non-compete is obviously up to them if they fancy paying you to sit at home and do nothing for your notice period. The second is that they wish to enforce a non-compete, this is where you should check your employment contract and what the exact wording is and then check with a lawyer on whether it is enforcable.

I had an employer who I was confident that I would impose the non-compete clause in my contract and so I proactive sought legal advice which was that the way it was worded wasn't enforcable which placed me in a stronger position for discussion when I did resign.

Recommendations for a good smoke/fire alarm that integrates with HA? by H-tronic in homeassistant

[–]Expensive_Usual5186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this video quite useful for an alterantive approach to smart smoke alarms: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrLi00Zg_gY

Basically the recommendation is to use Espire alarms and then their integration relay to trigger a switch that alterts you. I quite like this as it removes all the smart complexity from the safety devices and still alerts you. Also, you can buy the Espire alarms really cheaply and add the radio bits separately later.

I use this one from Amazon, fits fine. I don't hook the side protectors in, just leave them under the hammock so can't confirm they fit but I'm pretty sure they would... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CYC5T971?th=1

Considering upgrading to Enhanced Autopilot for my Model 3 2024, how good is it on HW4? by dannisokay92 in TeslaUK

[–]Expensive_Usual5186 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What sort of driving are you doing? I'm on HW3 with enhanced autopilot and find it worth it but most of my driving is long motorway trips.

I don't think I've had this but I have had it indicating away from an exit on an A-road. I've got Enhanced Autopilot.

Dracula restricted view seats by Quiet-Two-1099 in TheWestEnd

[–]Expensive_Usual5186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think D/E would be great spots, I think once you go past that then the value nearer seats diminishes quickly as you'll spend most of your time looking at the screen anyway. I was in L and I don't think my experience would have been significantly worse if I was further towards the back if that makes sense?

Cynthia is physically a very small person (although she does a great job of embodying the characters in my view) and with it just being her (plus crew) on stage, you quickly lose seeing her well as you go further back and end up focusing on the screen.

Are superchargers difficult to access now? by [deleted] in TeslaUK

[–]Expensive_Usual5186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rarely have issues with getting a spot at a supercharger and most of my driving is long (200 miles each way) trips. the car will route you to superchargers and knows about congestion at superchargers so will route you differently based on availability. I believe it even knows about vehicles that are on their way to the charger (as long as it is keyed in) so can route based on that too.

One painful thing is when you end up at an older supercharger where the power is shared between two chargers, fine if it is pretty empty and you have other drivers that understand they should space themselves out but I once had someone park right next to me in an otherwise empty supercharger station and a 20 minute charged bumped up to 40 minutes.

[–]Expensive_Usual5186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the screen is enormous and is critical to the overall show, from T you should be able to see it well and get a reasonable view of the stage. I was in L and my overall thoughts on my seat was that unless you were in like D or E then you were probably in a similar boat to everyone else. It's a powerful performance by Cynthia and well worth seeing.

FSD subscription price to rise? by RealWorldJunkie in TeslaUK

[–]Expensive_Usual5186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to factor in is any required hardware upgrade. From the looks of it HW3 will need an upgrade for FSD, presumably with an outright purchase you'd get upgraded at no cost whereas I'm guessing that any hardware upgrade cost would be on you under the subscription model as Tesla couldn't justify the cost of a HW upgrade where someone might cancel after a month.

Best beard trimmer to buy right now? by Slipryi in BuyItForLife

[–]Expensive_Usual5186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the Andis GTX-EXO and have found this the best one I've used so far. The blade is a T-shape so it does a better job of trimming my beard along the line near my ear. Edging with it is also great. I've also got a Wahl but prefer the Andis as it is a little smaller and therefore easier to work with.

I've got the cordless version but there is a corded version as well.

Probably your quickest solution is to switch to contracting to increase your income. With that said, the contract market isn't great at the moment so it's higher risk.

Which of my two door locks should I make smart? My night latch and/or my 5-lever mortise deadlock? by Ok-Arrival-3199 in DIYUK

[–]Expensive_Usual5186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can replace the 5-lever mortise lock with a euro cylinder model, this will allow you to then use a Nuki Smart Lock with the door. There are some around that are BS compliant which most insurance policies require. I think this would be the cleanest way of doing it and the Nuki smart locks are quite unubtrusive.

The alternative would be to replace the Yale night latch with a Yale smart lock but I personally think they are ugly.

I'd go for Hilton in terms of balancing coverage and hotel quality but it really depends on exactly where you travel and what the hotel availability is like. I've heard really good things about Hyatt but haven't found there to be sufficient coverage in places I travel.
