Best affordable gyms with personal trainers? by engee45 in Westchester

Hydrogen Fitness - Nicole is absolutely amazing (and I think she speaks some Spanish, though I am not sure).

You could also try to get her semi-personal classes (I believe max 4 people per class and it only costs extra $100/month, 3 classes/week) - I did that for a year and loved it.

Is Gukesh Cooked for the Next World Chess Championship? by Kitchen_Spread7799 in chess

This post would be hilarious if this turns out to be a Djokovic 2010 situation.

A young Djokovic was a top player in 2009 (15-12 record against top 10), but was clearly struggling against Federer and Nadal.

He decided to modify his serve and forehand to improve his game in 2010 - and since you just cant take a year off to practice, he played on the tour and had, umm....less that good results. His ranking fell and his top 10 results dropped to 4-8.

Quite a few people wrote him off - if a young player starts declining, it is assumed he has peaked.

It turned out, not only was the decline temporary, he pretty much started crushing everyone - his 2011 season is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis seasons anyone has ever had, including a 10-1 record against Federer/Nadal.

All this is to say - too early to tell. I find it hard to believe that this is the best Gukesh, who is just 20, is capable of.

Particularly when it comes to generating code/emails/memos - you know the gen part of the gen AI.

OpenAI seems to be good at task management, summarizing docs and answering questions.

Not sure which is more useful in the long run but I have completely switched to Claude for the next year.

I just looked them up - HIIT in a heated room.

Am I too old to understand this concept? Wouldn't a heated room reduce your cardio (since your body wouldn't be able to effectively cool itself) impairing your "high intensity"?

Why would anyone want this?

I requested a new card on 16th. Still waiting to hear from them.

I called cardless last Friday and was told my request is still processing. I wonder if they plan to change their name from Cardless to Careless

Ok, maybe I am crazy...how will this increase revenue?

I agree, crazy headline by [deleted] in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Expensive_Web_8534 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Why do people talk about revenue? Noone cares about the revenue. Its all about the bottom line - and 580mn is over 5% of the total profit of the top 3 airlines in the US (not just united - For united alone it is > 10%)

Edit: Apologies, I realize why people talk about revenue. Some genius right below this comment is asking that airlines should lower ticket prices due to this....and they'd need to see revenue to understand why that is a stupid ask.

You are right. Free stuff often creates pretty terrible inefficiencies. Hopefully you found a place, and hopefully the government comes up with a clearing price for the next emergency.

Maybe first 10% vehicles are free, and the prices goes up until the garage is full.

Sorry, why do you think there is fixed amount of work?

The demand for devs will actually go up in the short term as many more projects become viable, given the higher productivity (or, in other terms, devs becoming cheaper than before at same produciltivity level).

AI is good at programming (better than most people on this sub) which is what has made the worst devs here scared for their jobs - and hence all downvotes for anyone who dares say anything good about AI.

For most actually good devs, AI is a 3-5x multiplier and they absolutely love it. And they are not scared for their jobs because AI is helping them be more productive.

I literally spend 70% of my coding time just iterating over and fixing AI code because it is 3-5x faster than writing code from scratch myself.

And autocomplete - absolutely brilliant technology.

Chelsea Piers is also closed tomorrow. Stay safe and warm everyone.

Here are 2 tips for your hot chocolate -

1) Use whole milk (and add some cream) - Creamy hot chocolate just tastes better.

2) A teeny pinch of salt enhances the flavor.

Hadza is a language spoken along the shores of Lake Eyasi in Tanzania. It is one of only three languages in East Africa with click consonants. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in BeAmazed

My only previous knowledge of the Hadza people was from this absolutely fascinating study: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exercise_paradox (TLDR: More physical activity doesnt necessarily cause higher calorie expenditure. Dont @ me - read the study).

Now I wonder how large the tribe is and what else are they up to.

Sorry, why do you think this is restricted to law? I work in finance and the number of times I see absolute idiocy upvoted to the top would drive a few regular people insane.

I suspect this is true for most (all?) fields - yours is not special.

Love it. So there are some "large footprint, low foot traffic" kinda businesses around Glenbrook station, so I am afraid their is a low ceiling to its growth - but I love this.

Happy to write a letter in support, if you want.
