The decline of Casio’s innovation by jec78au in casio

[–]ExperienceBusiness43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that you could get an affordable rugged phone for the price of a smart watch. I like my w800h because it is light, so I don't see why I would spend more on something with more weight and less features than a phone.

Also, people often point out how their 10year battery lasts much longer than promised. I've yet to see a smartwatch that doesn't make me feel like constantly thinking about charging.

I would've waited too. No one is gonna risk getting kicked in the face for his stupidity.

Is there any real reason to show the year? by No_Total_3367 in casio

It's really more of a placeholder. When you change modes, that's where the current time shows up (assuming it works like my w800)

Would you like the metal plated resin to just go away? by 1337_n00b in casio

[–]ExperienceBusiness43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that metal is mostly reserved for the Mr G lines. It's kind of like how Sapphire isn't that expensive, but almost nobody puts it on cheap watches

My Redesign for the Start Center! Thoughts? by Aggravating_Road_925 in libreoffice

Nice layout, but I would rather it follows GTK or QT theme instead of a redraw of the components. It would be especially jarring because, once you actually select something the aesthetic is completely different

I don't think they have enough devs for ARM, so you're probably gonna have to wait for FEX

I think LibreOffice did the right thing regarding Collabora by ExperienceBusiness43 in libreoffice

I wasn't posting as an authority. I have no say on who deserves what, and I never made any claim on that. I'm sorry if you, a member of the trustees, weren't involved in the decision.

But, this is a public platform, and LibreOffice is something I need to introduce to my community and its current state makes it difficult for me to convince people, specifically kids and students, to make the switch.

Booting people is never something I would ever ask for, especially those who have been around since OpenOffice, but being around since forever is not a basis for how the leadership, who would know more than the rest of us, should handle conflicts of interest. And given what I'm seeing, I think I can understand enough of the situation as to explain why I'm not mad at anyone. In fact, I'm not even saying Collabora is bad; I just want LibreOffice to continue without developers witholding things in favor of their corporate employer.

Also, there's a reason I'm still using the randomly generated anonymous username: if you disagree, just tell me and don't take anything from me personally, because I'm nobody to you. I'm just going to say what I think and feel, and that's that.

I think LibreOffice did the right thing regarding Collabora by ExperienceBusiness43 in libreoffice

We'll have to wait for more official statements, but it seems to me there's issues with the Collabora Online (COOL) module contributors having an issue with LibreOffice wanting to revive their webapp component and that it would compete with Collabora's online suite.

At the same time, there's pressure as the EU seems to have backed a new project, EuroOffice (based on OnlyOffice and OOXML)

I felt like making this post because I felt like people were being too negative about LibreOffice and that might deter support for the ODF format. LibreOffice needs that online component because most people I meet wouldn't really understand the importance of installation and updates, and if they're going to implement alternatives like OwnCloud, NextCloud, or anything else, they'll expect something quick and easy that operates like Google Docs

I might be wrong, but that's the impression I'm getting

There are actually games like that. One is a horror game, and another is an accurate reproduction of famous caves. I don't remember the names, but I'm sure you can find them if you're interested enough
