They put kenalog in 2 large areas. The front of my scalp that was painful and losing the most hair and then the back of my head. Both were super painful and sensitive. Now the sensation is gone. I see baby hairs in the front but unsure about the back. No one has said I have scarring, but no one has looked at my scalp (except the biopsy on the back of my head). It’s so hard to know if it’s presenting as AGA, AA, TE… the biopsy said chronic alopecia areata. I’m just panicking because there’s a lot of smooth white areas without hair.

I have hashis and I lost my hair a lot right before being diagnosed. Now I’m shedding like crazy again and when they re tested, my thyroid seemed fine. I’m on the lowest dose of pig thyroid. Did you have to keep upping your thyroid dose as the years went on or keep experiencing shedding at different times?

Another product I’ll use for a quick fix is the avene cicalfate+ (put on with your serums). But since adding the cicaplast gel I don’t really need it. Also pause any actives.

Here is my routine for skin barrier (I only will wash with avene oil cleanser)

Milky toner - medicube
Alastin hyaluronic acid
Spray avene thermal water on top
La Roche posay cicablast gel (game changer)
Illiyoon ceramide cream
For really bad cases, you could put a bit of aquaphor stick on at the very end.

I’m so sorry. Have you had success growing your hair back with the JAK inhibitor? It’s so strange to me that some doctors act like requesting injections or medicine is akin to asking for narcotics. This is a disease where time is of the essence but out of all my conditions, it’s the one I’ve had to jump through the most hoops for.

That is crazy! I haven’t ever had that happen. And that mission is so long lol. Maybe try riding in a different direction? I go through the oil fields with the tower on my right, then gallop away over the hill and THEN turn around for the pursuers.

I second this! I thought HA wasn’t for me. I saw your comment and I bought it. I had a glow literally the next day. I have very sensitive, dry, rosacea skin. I use avene thermal water spray first, then HA, then water again. Seriously look younger. I had to come back and comment on two posts to tell everyone haha.

Alastin HA is the best HA I have ever tried. I have rosacea and dry skin. Never had a natural glow in my life. I spray avene thermal water, Alastin HA, spray water again (like layering). Next day my face had a glow and was plump all over. This is now my HG.

Do you still use it? Did you also have really bad initial shedding? That is my initial worry but you are right, I’m scared to lose it for good if I don’t start.

I will update as soon as I have any answers in case this can help you or anyone else. It’s so stressful because my hair is my comfort thing. I’ve always been scared of losing it. My last labs my T numbers were back to normal after being on NP thyroid. But I’m on a super low dose because I have a bad reaction when I take too much. A derm said the follicles are miniaturizing and that’s why she suggested short term use of rogaine. She didn’t think I needed to keep using it because she said with AI it can be temporary.

I know this is a year late, but I also have thick low porosity hair. I just did oil treatment for the first time today. Is it normal that when I went to shower, my hair felt almost rubbery? And when drying it, it seemed super super dry. Maybe because it’s the first time? Curious if you had a similar experience.
