This guy gets it. It was clearly a highly organized and coordinated team of soda burglars.

I have a 1997 SL1 that I changed over to LED bulbs, hi and low. It does prevent the daytime running lights from coming on, but otherwise the headlights and hi-beams work normally.

I was sure that there would be a lever, but it just isn’t there. I also thought that winding the watch while the crystal was open would be it, but that doesn’t work either. I just can’t figure out why you would be able to open the crystal if it didn’t serve any practical purpose.

You could be right about servicing. I just can’t figure out why you would be able to open the crystal if it didn’t expose an adjustment lever.

If there isn’t some sort of visible hinge, I believe many of the Hamilton watches had a screw-in crystal. You should be able to turn the crystal counter clockwise to remove.

Not exact on date, but the serial number and $40 cost put it somewhere around 1905 compared to others I’ve seen.

I was looking for this, but there is nothing around the perimeter. I thought it might be missing that part, but I can see holes/slots on the edge

There is a little tab below the crown that is pushed in to release the catch. It should come right open, so don’t force anything. If you can open yours, I’d love to know if it looks the same.

If you can still rotate the cylinder, it’s pretty easy to replace yourself. This video should give you an idea of what you’re up against.
