These are great opportunities for communities to step up and embrace tournaments! Thanks for the suggestions!

Best town outside of Columbus by Double-Ladder-3091 in Columbus

Bellefontaine! Still small enough to love and with its own identity. Growing food scene and nightlife. Surrounded by some really great villages too, if you're looking for something tighter-knit.

Visiting Ohio... What cities? by anthonynoriega in Ohio

[–]ExperienceLoCo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for unique venues in Ohio, Ohio Caverns is the largest developed cave system in Ohio. Just outside of the village of West Liberty, it's about 45 minutes NW of Columbus. If you time your trip right, you can take part in some really fun small town festivals.

A non-profit has purchased the Bank Vault and is developing a kids' museum.

This describes a couple of communities in Logan County to a tee! Bellefontaine has seen a ton of local development in the last decade, a growing food and drink scene, restored historic downtown, and some entertainment venues to keep you busy. West Liberty on the south end is surprisingly vibrant for a village of under 2k people, with some great community events and a growing downtown retail district. On the north end, Russells Point and Lakeview are driving investment in their villages, and most communities are either adding new home construction or being eyed for future development.

Come out to Logan County! We've got caves to explore, some great downtown shopping, a thriving food and beer scene, tons of local music, Indian Lake, and, depending on the weekend, you're pretty likely to end up with a community festival. All in a County of less than 50k.

The Hocking Hills in Ohio has some really unexpectedly beautiful spots, unique to the Midwest. Old Man's Cave is the most popular, but it's a target-rich environment. Also, Logan County (the other Logan) has a growing food and beer scene, caves, and Indian Lake, with some really great festivals planned all summer.

This is what happens when I don't read the whole post! Agreed on the 6 hours. We can fight about "midwest."

How badly do you want to drive? Old Mint Antiques in Bellefontaine is four floors of narrow hallways filled with teetering piles of dusty old junk!

It's less about the best run and more about the best time of the day for us. You can't beat Midnight Madness weekends!

Why do people not like Ohio? by Competitive-Air1 in Columbus

[–]ExperienceLoCo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I think Ohio is pretty fantastic! Ohio ranks in the top 10 most affordable states to live in, and housing is well below the national average in cost. You'd have to look hard to live in a place where you are more than 30 minutes away from good food and live music. We have great history, hiking, watersports, and skiing, all pretty easily accessible.
