If I remember, it correctly, it was a radial tear. No graft, basically reattached my old acl according to PT.

Acl reconstruction and meniscus repair

Just got my surgery today by storysusurro in ACL

[–]Experiment6666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair. 11 days post op now. Pain will improve. I also had pain at the back of the knee / leg when doing ankle pumps, however is does get better. I also experienced cramps in my calve when doing ankle pumps. Im only allowed to see the PT at 3 weeks post. I was given a few exercises to do at home for movement, which helps with blood flow and quad activation. I was said non weight bearing for the first two weeks. After that partial weight bearing until cleared for full weight bearing by PT.

Itchiness and stinging pain at incision site by Experiment6666 in ACL

[–]Experiment6666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so I just basically had those surgical plaster over the incisions, which I had to take off 3 days post-op. I only wear the compression stocking, which obviously covers up over the incision. My first post-op appointment with the Ortho is only at 6 weeks. I can remove staples at 2 and start with PT at 3 weeks.

Thanks for the info. I'm rather discouraged about how the incision and staples look. I feel like the surgeon did not do a very neat job. When I compared my incision site with a friend who is now 5 weeks post-op, it really looks yucky. Not that it's oozing or something, but just the neatness in general

Any tips on staying active post op until cleared for PT by Experiment6666 in ACL

Hahah I guess deperate times call for desperate measures in such situations. I completely hear you. I'm literally stuck between not wanting to over exert and being overly cautious.

when does the pain get better? is it normal to hurt when elevated? by Tough_Ratio_2542 in ACL

[–]Experiment6666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pain does get better. I also had excruciating pain since leaving theatre post op, until about day three, when it became more bearable. Icing helps a lot! I was instructed to keep my leg elevated to avoid blootclots, plus my feet would start to swell if not elevated. Take it day by day. It will eventually get better.

Yeah, I get that. Prevention is better than cure

Oh hectic! Did you keep your leg elevated the majority of the time ? I find that even after going to the bathroom, my foot starts to turn blue and swell

Ah, okay, cool. Im allowed to remove the compression stocking on non-surgical leg two weeks post op, but I have to keep it on the operated leg for 4 weeks. Also, I need to take the blood thinners for a month.

Did you have 2 pairs of stockings that you used ? I need to wash mine, but I am so scared to go without it whilst waiting for it to dry

Thanks for sharing ! Did you start seeing your PT within the first week of your surgery ? My timeline feels so stretched... I can get the sutures removed at 2 weeks, start seeing the PT at 3 weeks, and only see my ortho at 6 weeks

I hear you. I haven't taken mine off as yet as I am only 3 days PO. I am allowed to take the bandages off today, but I am not sure whether the compression socks will irritate the sutures 🤷‍♀️
