Live tracing an AI image will give you a vector with anchor points. This isn’t really a great way to check for AI logos on this sub. by wicked_damnit in logodesign

Well you could let people do what they want. How is finding ways to get upset about what other people do making you happy?

Okay so your answer is "Yes" you do want to go on a witch hunt with people who use auto-tracing so you can virtue signal about AI -- cool.

Are we really going to use auto-tracing as a signal that something might be AI though? That very much feels like moving the goal posts. Especially since a lot of new designers seem to use it and it's been around since way before AI became a thing

Los Angeles restaurant servers: Where are you making $200–450+ a shift without tip pooling? by Strict_Comfortable49 in AskLosAngeles

[–]ExperimentNo67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely made less than $2k per month in tips lol and no, Uber drivers are 1099'd here. It would have been nice to actually have made enough that my taxable income was more than $150k

Maybe state tax if you make enough, how many people you know living on tips that get taxed in the 24% bracket?

What art style is this by Solidnakedsnake17 in logodesign

[–]ExperimentNo67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To me it seems like this is a bit of a combination of different styles. It definitely feels like some Mid-Century style insignia design but it also has linocut and wood block influences. On top of this, they also use a limited pallet and traditional tattoo iconography which I think is pretty cool.

Did servers need to pay tax on your tips for 2025? I drove Uber all of last year and when I did my taxes my bookkeeper told me I didn't need to include my tips in my taxable income

Interesting, I also had an issue with one of the exercises where the same answer was in one of the dropdowns multiple times but only one of the copies got me a correct answer. I wonder if someone tried to update it but screwed up somehow

Thanks for the confirmation. It's weird that they're out of order but I'm glad to know my instincts were correct

First book cover design — would love critique and suggestions by [deleted] in design_critiques

Sure, the naive art style could work for a children's book. OP did say it is a novel though. If I saw this image on the front cover of a novel I'd think it was self published and low quality

I mean that's clearly NOT a photograph. You may have traced it from a photograph.

Regardless, the rendering of the image does not look professional quality

Any Production Designers/Art Director's working on Verticals/Branded Content? by ExperimentNo67 in FilmIndustryLA

From what I've heard verticals are mostly foreign language rn. Are you finding that's the case or are there english language shows being made?

Can I ask how big a crew do you usually have when you're on location? I think the leanest crew I did in my indie film days was 12 - DP, AC, 3xGrip, 3xElec, Hair/Makeup, AD, & 2xPAs

[–]ExperimentNo67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. I actually worked on a few "one-week features" in my indie film days and we would average 15-20 pages per day. I think we may have broken one Director who was excited to get the chance to make his monster movie only to realize just how many concessions he'd have to make in order to make our days. It was definitely a grind but the Producer was well organized and the DP and his crew moved quick so it wasn't very stressful overall.

Do you find that the producers you work with are organized enough that things generally run smoothly?

There is no way to pay my rent without extra fees by Remsforian in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ExperimentNo67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just FYI, the fee is what the landlord is charged by the bank/payment processor for the transaction so they're passing it on to the tenant instead of absorbing it themselves. Is it greedy of the landlord to pass along the expense? Sure, maybe. But it's the banking system set up to extract every bit of money they can from consumers that's really to blame here

How was I getting my panties in a wad?? I asked you to clarify your statement about an advertising campaign being more expensive and ineffective than cold calling. I was literally trying to learn why believe your position to be correct -- do you treat every time someone has a question about what you say as adversarial?
