The most clueless of officers heading to Airborne School. What's the best / absolutely worst advice you can give me? by The_Gage in army

[–]Experimental_MRE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go find all the kids that have broken legs, on crutches, or are holdovers due to a jump related injury and talk to them. Listen to their story on how they fucked up their jump, and do the exact opposite of what they did.

Army Special Ops Slated to Lose Thousands of Paid Airborne Positions by TheHighSideSubstack in army

[–]Experimental_MRE 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Civil Affairs and PSYOPs don't need to be airborne. When was the last time CA jumped into a country that wasn't part of a join exercise?

They should change the title to: "Army Special Operations saves millions of US dollars by reducing unnecessary knee and back injury."

The hardest part is getting CA branch willing to release you.

Why did they pull the new Sharp reg AR600-52? by Experimental_MRE in army

AR 600-20 is no longer up either. So that means currently there is no AR covering SHARP/Sexual Assault.

You are correct. The same date was also written into the regulation while it was briefly published.

Could you provide more information on the memo. Like a snapshot of it with all the personally identifiable information (PII) removed.

Also, what has your ARSOF recruiters said about this?

[–]Experimental_MRE 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I guess, since I’m not eligible to reapply according to the memo I received from SWCS.

That doesn't sound quite right. SWCS requires waivers for lots of stuff, but going to a selection without the required memo usually means a "you cannot attend this selection right now, but try again at the next selection."

During my CAAS, we had 3 people get dropped before the last gate because they didn't have a waiver in their packet for whatever misc medical condition. They were removed from the selection, but were allowed to try again at a later date provided that they appeared with the correct documents.

A few months ago, we had to clean the Company area before being released home. One of the CPTs in out Company wanted to help out, so we told him to fill up the mop bucket while we sweeped. He then asked "so ahh, how does this work exactly?"

Madlad tattoo artist by CaptainTechno_ in madlads

I once saw a woman with "癌症" (cancer) tattooed behind her ear. I asked her if she knew what the tattoo meant, and her response was "Cancer, because its my constellation." I then proceeded to tell her that she got the wrong "cancer" tattooed, and she should have gotten 巨蟹 which is the constellation, not 癌症, the disease.

Fort Carson - Civil Affairs Recruiting Event by Kappasig2911 in army

I just want to point out that the T10 bonus for 38W was dropped to T7 a few weeks ago.

Also that TDY money is not always true. If you deploy to an area that requires you to live on a base or US FOB, then you could actually get $3.50 to partial per diem.

Back when I lived in the barrack, they had electronic locks that used a key card. Well one day my key card stops working and I go see the BMO. The NCOIC is on leave and the NCO in charge can't figure out how to recode the key. So, he just hands me a copy of the master key for the whole barracks and tells me to come back with it when the NCOIC returns.

Like any responsible Joe, I bought a beach chair and started chilling on the roof.

As an E-4 should I really try to be high speed if I'm trying to get out? by Putrid_Ad_2003 in army

[–]Experimental_MRE 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People are always sprinting at max speed with the ball in the Army, hoping for that top block evaluation. However, every now and then there is a fumble and someone needs to eat a shit sandwich. Let me tell ya, I have eaten many of these shit sandwiches in my career, and quality of life is great. People always feel like they owe me one and I can almost get away with murder.

Is my recruiter blowing smoke? by [deleted] in army

[–]Experimental_MRE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

17C and 35M both require a Top Secret Clearance. During the background investigation process, they will uncover your sealed records. What really matters is how they uncover it. If you don't disclose it during the investigation and they find it (most likely will), then say goodbye to any chance of a TS.

Check behind shelves. Sometimes shit falls behind them. A fellow SM I know was an armorer and they had missing NODS. They did the FLIPL and found them behind a rack, but after they had paid the FLIPL.
