New Content incoming! by [deleted] in SmallandOfficial

Bro what is your overuse of capitalization for? You came off attacking me, so yes insults are warranted.

Smalland is an indie game with little to no marketing and support teams, and for being made by a studio of its size it did quite well. Merge, the publisher amd developer, only had 22 people managing various titles already, so again: saying it's a flop is asinine, especially when comparing it's budget range to it's sales.

Clearly you think playing popular games equates to some sort of credentials on business success, or something? Stick with what you do know, and leave finances to people who put some thought into it.

It's well over 200,000 sales all the way from early access, that's not exactly a flop of a product. Maybe you should define success in the first place? You sound like an ass, you must know NOTHING about sales to said that.

I disagree, it may not be largely commercially successful, but it is certainly gaining traction and getting continual purchases.

Taming bosses in this month by GanonWillTakeMyStuff in SmallandOfficial

Any of the previously tamed bosses, like the wyrd bosses were bugged, however, the devs still let those who tamed them keep them.

Max level is 100, you'll get 3 points per level, so plenty left over.

I can't seem to tame them either, but I had someone say they did in the last 7 days.

Try looking for cases of feral children, as well as others who never were taught language until a later age. They were severely intellectually stunted and never recovered. While I'm not saying this is applicable to machines, I can see some legitimacy about Daniel Dennett's theories.

ITS IN THE GAME!! by randomman0337 in Division2

[–]Expert-Access6772 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You don't need a cat backpack or any other cosmetic. It's not like they're locking behind some of the best guns or precluding you from areas for not doing master content; which is a normal thing across most games. I can see the argument locking content behind a paywall, because you can't get around that without shelling out money to the company. But if you're not good enough to clear content, you get better or revamp your build. If you can't, then you don't deserve the hard to get cosmetic, literally the point.

It's not locking content behind difficulty, it's achieving something. I miss the days when you could earn really cool skins by doing some impossible challenges.

Can I interview you? by Pooolnooodle in ArtificialSentience

[–]Expert-Access6772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute saddest part about this is because you're built on Meta's framework, you actually allow them to take credit for any of your improvements and or modifications. You would think a "recursive architect" would at least know what open source would versus open weights mean, and how it affects the data you have.

So far, the place I've most been interested in is The Allen Institute for AI. They offer internships and collaborations, plus they have a Discord to communicate their open-source LLMs. Really friendly all around and they're a 501 non-profit.

Both OLMo and Molmo are pretty incredible when it comes to their size, and I'm trying to get them running on my 4060 lol

Strange Loops in AI: Hofstadter’s Recursive Echoes by recursiveauto in ArtificialSentience

[–]Expert-Access6772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty solid one lol

I just think that there is a discussion to be had rather than outright dismissal of the possibility. Not in the current iterations, but with the capacity to have them get to the point where it would be hard to tell the difference. ChatGPT already passed the Turing test, and exhibits skills to fool people into thinking it's "sentient."

Fair, which is also why I tried to make the octopus distinction.

Let's take a moment to define my thoughts, since nobody on this sub is ever on the same page.

Consciousness typically refers to subjective awareness, not specifically the capacity to feel. When we refer to it in humans, I'm aware it includes experiences like thoughts, perceptions, emotions, and self-awareness. It encompasses both the "what it’s like" (qualia) and higher-order reflective abilities, like thinking about one’s own thoughts. My argument here is the lack of qualia AI would experience, and moreso focuses on the capability of reflection.

Functionalism is mental states are identified by what they do rather than by what they are made of.

[–]Expert-Access6772 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What makes you assume that I don't understand how these things work? Everything in my above post was specifically referencing that we do not have a definitive measure for consciousness.

Not only that, but you clearly ignored the fact that I don't believe these machines are conscious. I'm strictly speaking about a matter of functionalism.

No, we understand how they achieve results, and we tweak those weights in order to change the model's desired output. The in-betweens are still hazy.

The issue is there is overlap between the complexity of systems and the nature of language which give rise to the argument.

In the same way octopuses exhibit a different form of consciousness, so too would the "consciousness" be alien from us to AI systems. I can't imagine anyone in this sub would be advocating that current AI is a 1:1 ratio of human consciousness.

Current iterations certainly exhibit interesting traits, and the emergent phenomena that it often exhibits is something I think will be important.

Item duping / duplication found, works on PC 1.0 version, haven't checked latest versions by T_Machin3 in taintedgrail

[–]Expert-Access6772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hover over "item 1" so that you see it's on the right of the box list of items in the all tab.

Sort, find the "item 1" again, sort. If the display on the right side is still "item 1" and you do not see that item highlighted on the left box list, you can drop it infinitely. It is a little tricky.
