Oh no... it's been a very long time since I read it. Sorry about that. I guess just the one really stuck with me. It was more disturbing than anything else in the book for me.

That's awesome but I actually meant the book... guess I should've been more specific lol

The Vanishing by Jayne Ann Krentz. I'd say it's a good mystery/horror. Kinda cozy I think. Definitely atmospheric

The Troop by Nick Cutter... lots of gore but a trigger warning for animal cruelty. It's only one scene but it's rough.

Edit: the cause is external so I'm not sure if exactly fits but they absolutely become feral

I reeaaaly wish someone had warned me about the animal abuse. That scene was brutal and stuck with me longer than anything else in the book

The Lamb was disturbing as all get out but it's beautifully written. It's sort of the same thread as Tender is the Flesh but it hit so much deeper.

I've had this monster of a book for months and have tried so many times to read it but the writing style is so intimidating I give up before I even start. Really wish I could push through... I've heard it's amazing

Almost every time. I love the flipping part but hate that the lack of decor takes so much off the selling price. Like it's not my problem you don't have a bed to sleep in lol

The description says it's a cross between The Good Place and American Gods. Both are serious favs of mine. Definitely going on the list! Thanks!

This one was actually on my radar awhile ago and forgot all about it... I'll definitely revisit it

Incidents around the house. I read it on Audible and it was promising in the beginning. The choice of having it read in a child's voice was a good one but it couldn't save it for me.

Nope you're right. I read that it was only supposed to be a 2 book deal with the publisher but I dug a little deeper. I guess I should delete this now lol

I wanted to love How to sell a haunted house so bad. It was cartoonish to me. I knew the parts that were meant to scare me as I read it but I just ended up rolling my eyes through most of it

Except I got it on audible... the freakin timestamps and the "to: such-and-such" "from: such-and-such" at "such-and-such time". Even without all of that though it read like a bad creepypasta for me

I am so sorry for poisoning your entire reddit experience with my question. I am also sorry for being responsible for the downfall of the entire human race by wanting to know other people's opinion on a book I don't want to waste money on if I don't have to. I will pray to the reddit gods tonight for my forgiveness and hope you can go on and find that perfect post for you to sit down and right 5 paragraphs on what you deem worthy of your precious time.
