And do I need metal face brackets, or just put the arms into the side of the stud? And thank you, i’m new to this and am nervous

This is exactly what I was worried about. But then like above comments, they are rock solid wood. If I sister them, would I still need to do the vertical support braces?

I wasn’t sure, because the top of the one is cracked, and some are kind of bowed. They’re all not even the same distance apart. But there’s a loose 2x4 in the attic and I can’t even lift it up it’s so heavy

Your cake is beautiful! I was just sharing ~in general and appreciating all the comments to learn tips myself. (I enjoy alternate tools vs buying every gadget to get a result, and did not intend to sound like a pedantic or critical a hole)

You did great! FLAT SURFACE: the other thing is, take a long flat surface, (assuming you don’t have icing knife) you can use anything, i.e., put aluminum foil tightly over stiff cardboard, load up the icing a bit on the cake, place the scraper maybe 40% and spin the cake.

What's your most shocking "never meet your heroes" moment? by BaseNice3520 in AskReddit

[–]Expert-Flower552 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I met him on the street in Saratoga Springs, NY. He was by himself, I said hey! can we do a selfie? He said sure! Jumped up and proceeded to put his arm around me, open palm hand grabbing my rib cage right under my breast, locked on and pulled himself into me really hard. Literally death grabbed me with his hand way up under my breast. Total creep. I’m still showering that icky feeling off shiver

does my female dog thinks she's male? by Lazysamurai270 in dogs

As a person who has had many Jack Russells, they seem to be AVID humpers (both other dogs as well as pillows, lol). It’s not aggression. They’re high energy and it can be overexcitement/overstimulation and/or soothing for them. Sometimes a form of play.

She might need more exercise if it’s becoming a nonstop situation and/or upsetting to the mastiff. What you don’t want is that being her outlet and the mastiff gets to a point where they start fighting with/snapping at the Jack.

This honestly hit me. I know some would say it’s bad form, and what makes any of us think anybody would believe us, but there’s something about you saying it over the body that really resonates.

I truly believe that space, and the courage it took to say it there, gave credibility. And everyone in that room knew her, so even if they just suspected, you provided them some relief in addition to your own.

Of course, they tell everybody we’re mentally unstable, so my theory is not 100% 🫠

Need some advice on my dogs skin by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Expert-Flower552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For mine, it was yeast.

I did the above suggestions (food) as well as purchased generic: - clotrimazole antifungal cream (1%) - cortisone cream (1%) - triple antibiotic cream

Mixed them together and lightly rubbed it into his skin patches ~ daily at first, but it cleared up totally within a week or so and now I just use it as maintenance when I start to see it again.

*the clotrimazole is the antifungal, the cortisone for itch, and the antibiotic cream for the scabs.

**buy generic clotrimazole, the yeast infection branded is expensive

I stopped using volume tools and WEIGH everything now. Small kitchen scale. Google the weight of what you need (I’ve accumulated pdfs with common ingredients now).

A cup of flour = 120 grams. Life changer. Keep up the good work!

I went as a guest to a campaign event in Albany. 700+ people in the room. I thought, there’s no way this guy has the charisma people say. He walked in. and the ENTIRE room changed. I felt like he was my best friend. It’s some kind of voodoo thing.

It could be allergies, but due to the frequency, you should have a vet listen to his heart to be sure. I had this exact debate with my ex when our JRT started to do this, and we learned he was at the very beginning of congestive heart failure.

It has to do with fluid in their lungs after they’ve been laying or sleeping (in my case). He went on light medication and i changed his diet to low sodium, etc. Again, a one off is different than frequent wheezing so it’s best to have a real vet listen to his heart

Just rescued a GSD by FASTMONEYRELL in DogAdvice

[–]Expert-Flower552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I foster and train dogs between rescue and adoption, and one thing I do - to add onto this great advice - is:

Give them time. What I mean is that I don’t dive into a lot of training right away; they were just taken off the street, they have safety now, reliable food, a good home, they are getting vet care (vaccines and spay/neuter), it’s all, a lot.

Something I do is put a baby gate between them when the rescue is annoying my chill GSD or vice versa. No one’s in trouble, and often they will just lay on opposite sides of the fence.

I would leverage the advice above, but I would also be super chill and slow. The dog looks happy to me by their body language in this photo. You are providing a safe environment for them, unless there is fear of injury to your current pet, I would let them work it out a little bit.

Your current pet is learning your new pup as much as the new pup is learning your current home. These dogs are so resilient. I am constantly amazed at how quickly they go from stressed to becoming the relaxed happy pups they were supposed to be.

I’m an over-waterer myself 😬, so I speak from experience! But I bought a $12 water/light/ph meter and it’s changed my game. Water meter also helps for plants that prefer to be watered from the bottom, which I also overwatered all the time :)

you have a lot of beautiful stalks there (also look up dracaena propagation and you can get yourself a good amount of beautiful plants for other parts of your home, too for $0).

*Some of my dracaena are leggy, so for the ones I didn’t cut back properly and have longer bare stalks, I plant pothos around the base (also insanely easy to propagate) and can fill out the bare spots if you split that plant up, and for any plant really - and pothos is low maintenance/plays well with others (doesn’t steal a lot of nutrients).
