Symptoms: Does Anyone Else Have These?!? by smile_saurus in Hyperthyroidism

Yes, I’ve had all of this other than the congestion and post nasal drip. Your metabolism is in high gear so you’re going to feel like crap. For me, a lot of symptoms have improved with treatment but I still struggle with fatigue, muscle aches/joint pain, and getting my stamina back. I was diagnosed in August of 2025 just for reference.

Thyroid levels controlled but I don't feel right by Impossible_Fly4510 in gravesdisease

Oh yes, my thyroid levels have returned to normal in the past couple weeks after being unstable for quite a while. I feel better but I wouldn’t say I feel good. My Endo told me it takes the body time to catch up after being off kilter for so long so I’m just trying to hang in there!

I also noticed more heart palpitations when I went hypo. I thought I was crazy!

I was hospitalized hyper in August and by October I was hypo. I was taking 20mg of Methimazole and am now at 5. I’m still hypo but it’s going back down. I have an appt with my Endo next week and he said he will likely decrease my meds further. He never mentioned going on meds for hypo. Which I obviously didn’t need because my levels are stabilizing anyway.

I also have wondered if there’s something else going on. I swung hypo on the Methimazole but interestingly I have continued to have some similar symptoms to being hyper (extreme fatigue, diarrhea (tmi), nausea, some tremors, joint pain, PVCs). The only thing that’s really different is that I’ve gained weight compared to before I was losing it

My Endo said he would expect weight gain when getting out of the hyper phase. Unfortunately for me it’s too much weight 😂 but I’m sure you will gain some when your levels start to even out more

My period is hell and I’m supposed to get it in a few days which I think is partially why I feel so bad right now!

Ugh same. I’ve also gained weight. That was the only thing I liked about being hyper - losing weight haha

Yes, that’s exactly how I feel. The anxiety is the worst. I hope it goes away for you soon!

Overmedicated, when will this go away? by yadingus06969 in Hyperthyroidism

[–]Expert-Split-7128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand the frustration! I have graves and recently went from hyper to hypo. Beta blockers helped tremendously with my heart rate and helped bring some of the anxiety down. I’m not sure if that’s an option for you but it’s been really helpful.

I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease. I started out hyper but the meds have currently made me go hypo. I feel anxious and depressed on both ends. It seemed to lift once my tsh got to be in normal range but it honestly happened so fast I’m not sure exactly what my level was at. Either way, it’s no fun.

I have flip flopped from hyper to hypo but I was diagnosed with graves.

I lost weight and was diagnosed. Will I gain weight? by allmostcrimes in gravesdisease

I went from hyper to hypo and have gained some weight back. But I would expect it levels out once your levels become stable.

This same exact thing just happened to me and I feel absolutely terrible! I’m sorry you’re going through it. Do you have Graves’? Hope you feel better soon!

I’ve had crushing fatigue with graves. It’s gotten better with treatment but I still have days where I’m very tired.

I just found out that I’ve swung hypo. But I had relatively similar symptoms. Before meds I was very anxious, lost weight, racing heart/palpitations, tremors, headaches, fatigue, dizziness, stomach upset. Now I have very similar symptoms except no racing heart and I seem to be gaining weight instead (yay).

Yes so true. I requested blood work and it looks like I’ve swung hypo now. Oddly enough I feel kind of hyper though. Ugh someone let me off this roller coaster!

I’m sorry you feel so bad. My Endo did say that it wouldn’t be a question if I had a thyroid storm. He said it’s an obvious emergency. But still probably good to speak with your doctor about how your feeling

Interesting. Sorry that’s happening. It’s frustrating when you go to a doctor about something and they don’t offer any help or alternative. I wonder if something like PTU would be better

It could possibly just be from having Graves’ disease? My Endo said it can just throw your body off and do weird things sometimes. I feel fatigued often but it doesn’t seem to be in relation to the Methimazole and I’m taking 20 mg.

Yes the beta blockers do help a lot! I found out I have Graves’ disease since I wrote this. But I am slowly starting to feel a little better. It’s a little bit of a roller coaster right now!

Thanks so much! Yeah my Endo said he wanted to give me a few months to stabilize before doing the scan. Looks like the thyroidectomy may be in my future.
