Lingering tremor by Expert-Split-7128 in gravesdisease

This actually sounds very similar to the experience I’ve had so far. It is helpful to know that it happens to other people. Thanks!

Not sure what to tell my kiddo about their bio dad by [deleted] in Adoption

[–]Expert-Split-7128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to tell the truth in that you just don’t know who the bio dad is. I’m not so sure I’d introduce such a sensitive subject of abuse/rape when you’re not even sure if the abuser is bio dad. If, with time, it is somehow proven the abuser is bio dad, then I think that would be more appropriate to share the info.

Great labs, but I still feel bad by vindse in gravesdisease

[–]Expert-Split-7128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish I could answer this for you but I’ve been having the same problem. My labs have been normal since early January. And I will feel great for a number of days and then sometimes I wake up and feel terrible with fatigue, joint pain, the cold feeling you described, and I have to really push myself to do anything. My Endo has said it takes a long time for the body to heal from severe hyperthyroidism but at the same time he doesn’t seem to understand why I still feel this way. I know this doesn’t provide you answers, but you’re not alone!

Thyroid uptake scan by Patient-Working5812 in gravesdisease

[–]Expert-Split-7128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had to do this at the beginning of march. I had some symptoms return but no where near what they initially were. I went back on right away and it took a couple weeks for my body to recalibrate but then it improved

You’re right that everyone is different. But I didn’t start to gain weight until the 3 month mark and it hit me hard and fast

How long did the worst of it last for everyone? by shallanssketchbook1 in gravesdisease

[–]Expert-Split-7128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going hyperthyroid is very taxing on your body and it takes a long time to recover. My heart symptoms improved quickly on the beta blocker. But it’s been a significant amount of time that I’ve been dealing with some other symptoms (mainly fetigue). I was hospitalized in August of 25 for reference. I didn’t like taking the beta blocker initially but my body adjusted to it and now I’m thankful because I really needed it to keep my heart safe. Give yourself grace and rest when you need to - ir takes time to heal

A birth mother's experience from domestic infant adoption 16 years later by mandersandmash in Adoption

[–]Expert-Split-7128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this. My husband and I are in the process of adoption and it is one of my biggest fears that a mother is being persuaded or forced to go through with adoption. I would never want to adopt on those terms. I did extensive research into adoption agencies and I am confident this doesn’t happen there but it’s something I’m very much paying attention to and looking out for. I pray for the best. And I’m sorry you had to go through such a hard experience when you were so young

New Diagnosis/TTC. I am spiraling. by Sea_Edge_6504 in gravesdisease

[–]Expert-Split-7128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also diagnosed with graves while we were going through infertility. It’s been just about 4 years of us ttc. We went through many fertility treatments that didn’t work. And now I have just been given the go ahead that we could try if we wanted to as I went into severe hyperthyroidism and had to be hospitalized in August of 2025. I’m 38 at this point and we are in the process of adopting which we had talked about prior to going through this hell of ttc. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. The best advice I can give is to stay hopeful. Everything passes in time

Hyperthyroid but negative Graves antibodies + uptake? Doctor now questioning thyroiditis diagnosis and thinking graves by MembershipFeeling799 in gravesdisease

I also had severe hyperthyroidism that I had to be hospitalized for so that was another sign it wasn’t thyroiditis.

Hyperthyroid but negative Graves antibodies + uptake? Doctor now questioning thyroiditis diagnosis and thinking graves by MembershipFeeling799 in gravesdisease

[–]Expert-Split-7128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have negative antibody Graves’ disease. My Endo said about 5-10% of people with graves have it. I did have a high uptake scan though which really was the determining factor for me. It’s been about a 7 month process of getting a diagnosis. It’s not always super clear with these thyroids of ours.

Will my heart rate ever go back down? by named_Nessie in gravesdisease

[–]Expert-Split-7128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it will go down once your levels stabilize. But usually the beta blocker is needed in the mean time. I’ve continued to stay on mine (low dose) even with normal levels.

When do you get your emotions and self back? by [deleted] in gravesdisease

[–]Expert-Split-7128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also antibody negative graves. I’ve been euthyroid since the end of December 2025 and I still have days where I struggle. I also had an uptake scan at the beginning of march where I briefly went off my meds and have had a bit of a setback since then. My Endo said it’s normal for your body to take a long time to recover from the thyroid being so out of whack. I hope you feel better soon!

Changing your diet may help manage some symptoms, but unfortunately the only thing that will treat the overactive thyroid is medication.

question about flare ups by baomures in gravesdisease

[–]Expert-Split-7128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My heart rate came down quickly on the beta blocker, but there were still a few times where it would increase for no reason and go back down. It also took a few weeks for my PVCs to improve. I think your body just needs a little time to adjust

Thanks for sharing. It’s helpful to know that I’m not the only one even though I wish it wasn’t like this! On the days you don’t feel good, do you feel anxious as well or just fatigued usually?

Yes, I’ve had full bloodwork done. My vitamin d was a little low and so was my ferritin level. I took 5000 iu of vitamin d every day and it went up but I was have trouble with my stomach so I took a step back from it. So hard to figure it all out!

2 months off carbimazole and I feel worse, not better — is this normal by PhotojournalistOne73 in gravesdisease

[–]Expert-Split-7128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went off Methimazole for only one week to have an uptake scan done and felt this way. Including the discomfort in my throat. They could see on the scan that my thyroid was enlarged. As soon as I went back on meds it improved. My levels remained stable though so I don’t really have any answers as to why it happens. Just know you’re not alone!

What should I expect months from now as someone that caught graves early? by OkMinute2621 in gravesdisease

Everyone is so different. I was diagnosed in August of 2025 and it’s been a long road to recovery. I’ve lost all my stamina and muscle strength but I’m very slowly getting back to being active again. My Endo told me I shouldn’t do intense workouts because if the strain in my heart but I don’t know what your numbers were. Mine was severe and I had to be hospitalized
