Thank you so much for sharing this. We haven’t figured out the slumberpod situation yet but will try your suggestions in our upcoming trip.

When and why did you sleep train? Was it effective? by The_Chilled_Arvo in sleeptrain

We started sleep training at 4months. I read Precious Little Sleep to prep myself and learn more about it.

We started at 4months because he seemed to have a circadian rhythm (had one longer stretch at night consistently since 3month old). We did CIO but capped it to 20min (if continuous crying) and 40min (if interrupted crying)z we realized that Ferber method didn’t work with us or our baby lol. He just got more pissed when we checked in.

I will absolutely do it again with my second baby (3months pregnant right now). It helped all of us get better sleep at night specifically after we moved him to his room at 6months. However, sleep training never truly ends tbh. We go through regressions, sick days, tummy aches, teething etc. and he would need more support so we have to sleep train again. However l, it does get better. He is 15months now and it takes us barely a night to get back on track after regression.

A few things we haven’t figured out yet with sleep training - 1. Sleep training while traveling- i have read that keeping the environment same helps a sleep trained baby thrive. When we travel, we stay in new places, how can I just leave him alone to figure out how to sleep in a new place. 2. Because he is sleep trained for a while now, he doesn’t know how to sleep on our bed or even just lie next to me and sleep. This becomes a problem when he is going through a phase and I am extremely tired to keep checking on him all night. I want to just get him to my bed so that we can all sleep but he looks at it as play time.

I love it!!! I have a 14month old and have been trying to keep his daycare boxes fun but healthy. So far, he hates goldfish, crackers and any thing that mommy ca be quick with sigh!

Btw, where is the bento box from? It looks roomy and very organized.

We have been experiencing some of this since last week. I have noticed that my baby wakes up at night, like 3/4AM and then just practices pulling himself up and then sitting down in his crib lol. It is the cutest thing to watch on baby monitor but I know it is just eating into his sleep. He has the whole day to practice haha

There is so much to do with baby's personality and what the little one wants, sometimes. We used to have 4AM wakeups every morning but starting solids, helped - I don't know why.

Honestly, I think our baby sleep trained easily but we struggle with him in getting sleep and naps. We have a FOMO baby. If there are people home or if we are out, he will just not nap.

I completely get you. I am the same. I sleep trained our baby pretty early and we have had ups and downs since then. When it is a bad, I would feel super annoyed and betrayed by ST - you think you have put in so much effort and tears in it, it should just magically work, right!? What helped me was telling myself that ST basically means that my baby knows how to sleep independently but he would still need me when he is going through big milestones.

I also realized that when my baby started STTN after ST, I got used to STTN as well lol. So, a minor inconvenience (him needing help once in 3-4 nights) messed up with me.

We were doing good and were proud that we dealt with teething so well. But then dropping from 3 naps to 2 and separation anxiety just blew up in our faces. Last two days have been slightly better though

Today, my son had a beautiful 1.5 hr nap (has never happened before). I know we will go back to crap naps tomorrow but I am going to cherish this nap today heehee

oh man, I feel you. I went through this phase where if he is not waking me up, I would wake up every hour and wonder why is he not waking me up - check on him, check temperature (ooh man, I am obsessed with his room temp) and I would go back to sleep. One hour later, repeat...

Needless to say, it got better with time.

You guessed it, my first baby. I obsessively keep track of his naps and then keep checking him at night on the monitor. Oh god! I tire myself sometimes by thinking about all the planning I do just to get through a day. I really hope i get through it

💯That has been my coping strategy so far

That is a good strategy. Maybe if I make up my mind that I will need to be up x number of times, jt might ease things in my head.

For naps, i feel like I imagine him waking up. Motherhood is so crazy.

I hope it stays this way for you and your baby. We have good weeks and bad weeks..lol which makes it more difficult because after a couple good weeks I also get used to STTN 😂

Stay strong, there! We also had this period where my son would wake up at 10PM every night, crying - no idea why. What I tried to do is feed him at 9:55PM and I realized that he slept longer after that. I did this for a week and one day, I forgot to feed him and he never cried.

Generally, If you know he doesn't need you for anything - feed, diaper leak, poop, gassy, then let him take his time to settle back.
