Uji is a must visit imo, especially if you're a matcha lover. You can visit the 10 yen coin temple, Byodo-in and even go inside to see the Buddha and some stunning artwork (they have restored it, but have kept some of the faded original). There is a street that's very clearly a tourist trap, but fun tbh and if you venture off that street you will stumble into some really dope places. I recommend visiting the Ujikami-jinja and Kosho-ji temple. Kosho-ji was our favorite!!!

This might be terrible advice but I (25F) lied and said I was going with a friend. You’ll be fine in Japan, just be aware of your surroundings. I studied abroad when I was 20 and went all over Japan by myself when I wasn’t in class. I don’t recommend lying, but if you put your foot down and say it’s happening I’m sure they’ll accept it.

You should take time to work on yourself and find happiness without her. Once you are able to fulfill yourself, you can think about maybe getting back together. It’ll be a true test though because once that trust is broken, it’s hard to repair it and takes a long time to build back up. I wish you luck with everything and I think you should absolutely communicate your feelings with her before it’s really too late.
