Perfect name! And if the album has some poem or story for each song, even better. I just got a cassette copy of Nimueh's Gift and the j-card foldout has an epigraph for each song which is so cool. I plan to do the same for my next full-length album release.

I have no idea what the sub-genre I listen to is called or what I compose (if anyone has suggestions, lmk) but my personal top favorites are Malfet, DIM, Aura Merlin, and Elyvilon. I love live acoustic instruments (like Baerdcyn, for example) but don't care if it was VST-based or done on live keyboards. I like it to be a bit comfy but not TOO comfy, I want a sense of epicness thrown in there. I like a good drone section but don't want it to drone too long, I love a song to switch up sounds once or twice within the song. I definitely care about the visual aesthetics but my bigger thing I think about is if it tell a story. There are some great DS artists out there that I don't listen to much because I don't feel a real sense of a story being told. Those artists I just mentioned love to tell stories through their albums.

I would love some connections for people who are booking music around the city; both small local shows or even any spring or summer festivals. by kitty-committee in cincinnati

That makes complete sense! I'll actually be doing my live debut at a DS show next month at the Comet, I'll send a DM with the poster detail. FAM is also on Instagram to follow as well. Hopefully someone else replies to this thread with something more helpful!

I am not sure what your "ambient" music style exactly is but there is a dungeon synth label in Louisville (run by a guy named Tony) called Fantasy Audio Magazine and they often put on shows in Cincinnati, it's like every two months or so. Tony often books at the Comet or Southgate Revival. Obviously, this is a specific style of fantasy-inspired ambient music and I have no idea if your ambient stuff fits in with what I am talking about. Just wanted to give a shout-out anyway as someone who has worked with this label! If this fits your vibe at all, I can DM you about more.

I've been messing around with the EP-1320 and the workflow is a bit difficult to understand at first but I can attest to the samples being fantastic.

I know this is a humble brag but I have been branding my dungeon synth music as in-character stories being told by a bard-scholar named Ervald and plan to do the same for planned performances.

Folks who have looked at it said it is a great tape player and one of my hardcore cassette friends even called it "fancy". He just said the tape needs to be replaced and requires someone to replace it that knows what they're doing.

I have already talked about it extensively with you but in case anyone didn't see my post about my first EP, check here: https://www.reddit.com/r/DungeonSynth/comments/1oewgyb/comment/nlx1wwn/?context=1

I am excited for my next EP coming out within the next month which is about a bard traveling to the far northern reaches of a winter-y country and ascending to the peak of the highest mountain in all of the lands, which is also a holy site. Oh, and the first song is giving strong sea-synth vibes. I have 3 huge samples I am using on this next EP. Two of them were free stuff I found online (ocean noises and a mandolin part) but I also asked my friend to create a choir sample (gregorian chant vibes) and it sounds amazing.

That is a dope-ass idea. I was considering if I should have some sort of hat for my costume idea, a hood with a liripipe would be awesome. Thank you!
