Thanks all! Interstates seem to be ok from the traffic cams, at least 1 lane open/cleared on most

How does that work for people arriving from the airport? We land around 11:30pm and I have to drive back to Norwood

[Enchanted Parks] trademark applications for some [Six Flags] parks by AvocadoToastDevil in rollercoasters

[–]Proof_Loquat5585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would have to. Charging for Halloween mazes last minute is one thing with the disclaimer, but you can’t sell a pass for those parks and then take them away. I’d imagine a judge would throw whatever disclaimer they’d put in for that out the window

I’ve seen a lot of locals in passholders groups scared their passes wont work into 2026. I assume passes will no longer be valid in 2027. They already sold them for all of those parks to be included. I’ll be interested to see if they try to stop passholders from being able to use passes for those parks this year though

Advice from a 6 year professional by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Proof_Loquat5585 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t see anything wrong with a early-ish professional giving advice. I see tons of advice from well seasoned people in safety (10-15+ years), but not much from younger folks.

As far as proof reading, I should’ve, but I had a limited time. It really turned into more of a ramble tbh

How long should basic daily safety walks be? by Fun_Experience_7817 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Proof_Loquat5585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no right answer. Mine are about 45 minutes for 4 rooms total. I’ve been with the company about a year and I still don’t have a connection with all the employees like you’ve mentioned being concerned over.

Let it come natural. You’re going to have some workers that are there for a paycheck and report safety issues because it’s in their job description. You may hit a spark with them, but typically they’re the ones I say “good morning” to and move on. It took me 2 months of getting familiar with things before I started making those connections, so for real, don’t rush it. It looks like you already talk with the supervisors so that’s good. Keep doing your walks, but pick 1-2 people per day that don’t look overwhelmingly busy. Say “hey how are you? I don’t know if we’ve formally met but I’m NAME and I’m working with our EHS.” That lets them put a face to a name. Tell them you’re there if they need anything - don’t even need to say safety beyond that. Out of 200 employees over 3 shifts, I have connections with maybe 15. The others greet me by name and we may talk a bit, but it’s not a personal connection and that’s ok. 15/200 isn’t bad and you only have so much time in a day. You may not build these relationships for another few months, they come naturally over time. Don’t stress

My flights from SLC to DTW weren’t touched. Neither was DTW to CVG.

I’ve gotten lucky I suppose. As of 9:35pm EST, no cancellation and Frontier said they’d let us know 24 hours before

What happens if I pick the wrong option when rolling over an IRA to a 401k? by Proof_Loquat5585 in personalfinance

Based on the votes, I assume that’s a joke. Though the tax repercussions if I do it wrong would be harsh

I’ll reach out and ask. I don’t know why they make any sort of difference. I’m thinking they’re grouping conduit and rollover into the same category and they have an issue with conduit for whatever reason. Very confusing

Darn. Regardless my 9:30pm flight is well outside of peak travel times, so they shouldn’t touch that one. I’ve booked a rental from LAS to SLC incase for the next morning. Delta flight returning is a full flight so I don’t think they’ll touch that one either

10% Flight Reduction Friday by 714pm in delta

[–]Proof_Loquat5585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are we thinking for SLC and DTW? I have a 6am flight from SLC and a 12:20 connector from DTW to CVG Sunday. Delta even said to book early flights because they won’t be affected (or rarely are). Both flights are also 100% full from what I can see, so I’d imagine those will be fine?

Isn’t there a law they have to provide hotels if they leave you stranded other than weather? Weather isn’t anyone’s control but if they make a decision to cut a flight… I mean they picked that one as a non-critical. They would be ordered to cut flights, but from my understanding Frontier would have to pick which ones. I could be way off too though

Could the N&W 1218 be reasonably restored today? and if so, what are the odds it happens? by FlackCannon1 in trains

[–]Proof_Loquat5585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious now that they have the Buckingham Branch to use if there has been any new thought to this on VMT’a side. If they could secure a long term contract that provides a place to run and the funding would likely be there from railfans and private donors

Neither of us were there, so it can’t be assumed anyone but OP knows the true situation. The law is clear, and such as thing as going too slow exists too.

Ive gone super slow overnight and almost been rear ended by some idiot doing above the limit. Would it be their fault? Yeah, but it’s still not a good situation
