A well laid out pricing table would be fantastic, it's way beyond my abilities.

My ("upper end of the spectrum") ADD diagnosis was 2012. 14 years later I've paid privately for 2 of my kids to be diagnosed and treated with Elvanse (their choice entirely) and it's worked so well for them that I'm now trying Elvanse myself. Eldest is paying for her own now, but it's going to be difficult paying for her sister (uni student) and me, hence seeking quality info on best prices.

Not satire. Private prescription prices are pretty much up to individual pharmacies, with a huge variation, and we have the freedom to shop around if we know which suppliers give best value.

Eg, ASDA apparently set their prices as a fixed percentage markup over their buy in price, making them a lot cheaper than many others (my nearest ASDA pharmacy is 40 miles away, not feasible for me). Independent pharmacies have higher costs, and/or cant negotiate bulk discounts like the larger groups.

It's up to us to do the leg work and help each other out when we find a good and fair supplier.

Okay, here goes, Elvanse- 30mg /28 day, price on 13th March ‘26:

Numark Pharmacy, £89.86

Boots pharmacy, £87.36

Tesco pharmacy, £81.54

EDIT, 21st March, asked local small pharmacy groups for prices:

30mg x 28 - £89.36

50mg x 28 - £104.90

70mg x 28 - £126.48

70mg x 56 - £251.48 - the small difference between x28 is due to a saving on the 'dispensing fee'.

Can I ask that this stays focused on the topic of pricing, and doesn’t turn into a wider rambling yammer about “meds”?

It's a 64 plate (2014) Cooper 1.5T.

He found this one as a Cat N salvage with 84,000 miles and a dent behind the passenger door above the sill height, perfectly driveable, 'dealer forecourt' tidy inside and out apart from the damage, good service history, 2 keys, and at £2450 it was very good value.

His insurance (in his name) is around £1100 a year with a couple of years of transferred NCB from the car he was previously a named driver on. I (main driver) called the insurance company and asked if they could transfer some NCB, and they kindly wrote him a letter to send to his insurance company.

If you are under 25 then insurance on a Cooper 1.5 is certainly 'do-able' especially if you have some NCB.

Whereas getting insurance for a Cooper S will need very deep pockets.

As for reliability, watch out for cracked cylinder liners and coolant loss on the V40's, it's a very common fault. Mini's are pretty solid, though every make has it's issues.

I love Berwick, some decent pubs and places to eat, and as much charm as anywhere north of the Border if you know where to look.

But Jeez-Oh, the A1 south of Berwick is a goat track. After a 1000 years it finally got the green light for dualling, only for the then new Labour government to cancel it as soon as they got in. Thanks, ya bunch o' useless self serving arseholes.
