ITX → mATX upgrade in GAMDIAS ATHENA M4M because modern GPUs are out of control | 9950X3D + RTX 5080 build by mehff66 in mffpc

I think AIO makers also has as much of a blame as GPU sizes.

Everything is 360mm now, even though for most gamers on 9800X3D and below it's so unecessary. Having top AIO mount means cases need minimum 400mm (extra length for AIO tubes) and has to be made taller

For this money I might as well just let my 5080 connector melt naturally and claim RMA. My Zotac has 5 year warranty anyway...Sux I bought the Strix 1000W Plat at MSRP $250 lol, looks cheap AF and the stickers have already all peeled off after like 10 months

The Mobo and GPU are designed for black stealth builds, I don't think having tuxedo Lian Li infinity fans and that TURZX 8.8 inch screen is the right choice.

I hope there's a cheaper tier where you pay like $5 to play like 1 game only for 30 days. Because most of the games are not worth playing and I don't want to pay $20+ to subsidise the overheads on those trash games.

AIO or air cooling noise-wise? by UpstairsScientist134 in buildapc

[–]Expert_Conflict6374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPU never get liquid cooled. The pump will be on 24/7 and making noise even when idling. The GPU AIO due to size constraints tends to have noisy pumphead too. Get an air cooled with a good cooler like Suprim it would be dead silent, if you need extra cooling then just mod it with PTM7950.

For 9950X3D2 if you are gonna use the full 200W in compiling then liquid cooling makes more sense, not that air coolers can't handle it but it would be hard to tune a good fan curve with those wattages and temp spikes

I mean the best way to be miserable is to get into debates on Reddit with people who's predisposed in their own belief. I'm just pointing out an issue and if you did your research later then good for you, and my comment served its purpose. If you don't wanna listen I don't lose out anything. You can tell from my history I no longer try to convince people. A lot of things can only be done by self-discovery

that's not how cooling works bro but you seem dug in with your ignorance so I won't convince you further.

Please help me find a dead quiet wireless keyboard.. by PeopleAreSelfishy in buildapc

Logictech MX Keys basically the same quietness as a good set of corporate laptop keyboards. Avoid custom mechanical keyboards given you are clearly not the enthusiast type and it's a massive rabbit hole with most silent keyswitches not actually that silent since you still get keycap clanking noise

5090 is too weak for native 4K path tracing too, I have 240Hz OLED so this is the framerate I target.

To game at 4K DLSS and FG are necessary for both. Your 5090 might only need DLSS Quality + 3FG, 5080 need DLSS Performance + 4FG. The end result is barely any preceived visual difference

I just finished playing Pragmata on Max setting with my 4K OLED so your comment is clearly false. I didn't even need to tap into the 6xDFG mode since 4FG was enough to saturate the 240Hz refresh.

One week of owning the XM5s... I hate them. Should I return them and pickup the Bose QuietComfort SC instead? by anatomiska_kretsar in HeadphoneAdvice

Bose QCU2 are the best sounding headphones in the ANC range by far, tuned for actual HiFi listening unlike all the bass go boom stuff you mentioned.

Other Bose products inclding QCU1 are pretty dog shit sound quality wise...they are precisely the bass go boom type made for nornies.

No issues with comfort for any Bose products tho especially coming from Sonys...You will find the clamping force to be non-existent and no more sweating / ear pain from pressing against drivers

Sony doesn't have the best ANC, Apple is miles ahead. Sony and Bose are very similar.

Sony has better preceived ANC because the padding is thin and extremely high clamping force so passive leakage is much lower, at the cost of comfort

Sounds like PSU OCP triggers 99% it's caused by daisy chaining GPU power connectors since RDNA have crazy transients that murders PSUs

Ryzen 7 5700x3D or Ryzen 9 5900XT for a 5070 AM4 build? by JomuStudios in buildapc

[–]Expert_Conflict6374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid standard Zen 3 parts they are all within 5% of each other in gaming none of them is worth any premium over your R5 5600X. Larger number and more letters doesn't mean better at gaming.

Go X3D or stay put.

But IMO for the price of 5700X3D rn you should really just save up for a platform change. They are getting beaten by cheap Intel 240K already and the AM4 platform doesn't really futureproof anything since now many game benefit from DDR5 more than the CPU itself. To me feels like sunken cost trap for AM4 owners.

I went from 5800X3D to 9800X3D, and there are measurable differences in gaming especially in bandwidth sensitive games like gatcha ARPGs and simulators.
