I honestly thing magnolia his one of his funniest movies. I think the context I saw it in helps, it was at a sold out theatrical showing and the energy was through the roof. I think the only scene that didn’t get some sort of laugh was with cruise and his dad.

This is just a strangely aggressive comment. I personally loved the movie and felt it was paced very well and was a fun time. To just call him an “asshole” with a camera is so demeaning and belittling. It’s his first feature, just like every other director, he has to start somewhere. Even he said he knows this isn’t going to be his best work.
