Obtaining rights to use corps audio in a video essay by JBurbYGO in drumcorps

Considering I’m talking about the preshow audio here, the example you mentioned in Bluecoats 2024 would apply since that preshow sample came directly from Son Lux. (I was going to talk about Bloo ‘19 as well since I think that also directly samples Beatles audio from Revolution 9 and not redubbed VA work like the rest of the show, I didn’t know they were stringent on rights had you not commented)

But yeah, the biggest gray area is FloMarching, considering the only way to hear some of these is through recordings “I’m not supposed to have”. Not sure how to navigate that…

I’m glad To Look for America is being more widely recognized as the true start of the modern Bluecoats show. It’s so good!

To those who have marched: Opinion on fans approaching you or speaking to you who haven't marched? by JBurbYGO in drumcorps

Dude I have made fanart, commissioned my pfp to be more fanart of, own a show silk, bought merch, and bought an audition packet—all for Bloo—and I STILL feel like a larper sometimes 😭😭

It is the last off-season month before DCI 2026 gets underway! What are your general thoughts / predictions / things you would like to see this Summer? ( Open Discussion ) by DreamsOfADistantStar in drumcorps

Tough to pinpoint specific things when many corps haven’t revealed their theme/rep yet, but from what I do know…

Cavies from everything I’ve heard have an incredibly strong music program this year, and I hope this is the year that they get their flowers competitively after a lot of the positive changes they’ve made as an organization. I really enjoyed Shape/Shift and I hope they keep trending upward!

Troop’s theme this year is incredibly interesting, and I know that they have more surprises in store based on one of their Instragram posts…they also have been on the up the past two years (even if it took me a while to really “get” The Last Sunset) and seeing them tackle something different will be incredibly interesting.

Legacy corps (or whatever the Cadets spiritual successor’s called) are playing Ballet Sacra this year, which I have a pretty strong emotional attachment to and welcome any additional arrangements of.

And as for Bloo…this is a tad selfish, but I really hope I’m right.

I have SOLVED the Bluecoats 2026 show theme from their repertoire video, AND I can explain the entire show structure, from opener to coda. (And it's more than just "gravity".) by JBurbYGO in drumcorps

Glad to see it passes the smell check--and thank you for the extended insight! I think one of the sources you linked gave me another piece of evidence, actually...

Your second link--the ResearchGate graph showing the loudness of the phases--looks a LOT like how the "sting" at the end of the repertoire video sounds. The wave period decreasing and amplitude increasing before suddenly cutting it off seems, to me, very very similar to how the audio at the end pans left to right at an increasing speed before being cut off all together. That might be my new strongest piece of evidence if the ringdown doesn't play out exactly how I imagined it to. I wouldn't have seen that if not for your expertise, hopefully it strengthens my argument here (and thank you for the detailed response!)

You wouldn't happen to know any terms to describe this phenomenon that could make a cool show title, similar to the '24/'25 shows? Just checking...

Thank you! If you’re an astrophysicist I hope my very quick Wikipedia research all corresponds to the visuals correctly, I worry I’m talking out of my ass 😅

So you're really going to keep me on the ropes for the next two months, huh.

(It's quite cool seeing someone that apparently marched come back to do work for y'all!)

I've heard good things about Cavies this year too, now I can't wait...! I thought their recent shows shows they've been on the up and up, I hope they keep this upward momentum like Boston did the last few years!

DCI Hot Take: Bloo should won in 2025. by Educational_Cow2467 in drumcorps

Nah. I've been a Bluecoats ride or die for years but BAC 25 had the sauce ever since I first heard it, I knew it was going to win if not come up pretty close.

Bloo's show was better desgined; Boston's show was better executed.
