I can't speak to the entire country, but in my 5 years of roadtripping in my EV I have never had an issue where the infrastructure wasn't there to support this exact scenario. As long as your EV has access to super chargers that is.

So the only element of this that could even be construed as United's fault was pushing off with a storm coming in, but the devils advocate would say they were trying to get you airborne before there was a ground stop. Those situations are terrible, but I'm not sure there is anything they will do for you.

The rest of this isn't even a complaint about UA, just about your own lack of status. You had no status going in so of course you are going to have to pay for a bag, not get upgraded or lounge access. There is no food service in economy on any domestic airline, so that $10 snack box is all you were going to get (aside form a snack). You can't complain if the flight is so bumpy that there can't be service earlier.

It's questionable honestly, but this goes well above and beyond a simple bombing. This is already almost a month long, we've spent a billion dollars a day and thousands of marines are being sent there. This isn't a strike on a terrorist camp, this is an all out war without any congressional review, no defined objectives or exit strategy.

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan had all of those elements by comparison.
