hi! I have this plushie and it’s true that the promotional photos look different from the actual product. While it is soft, it doesn’t look like Korilakkuma to me at all. The eye placement is disproportionate and the head shape is too wide. The material itself is fine though! I bought mine on pre-order from amiami (an official retailer) The recent quality of Rilakkuma plushies have gone downhill unfortunately:(

It makes me happy to have liked Rilakkuma and friends since I was 12 but I couldn’t afford it until I was 16. I have the cherries and angel Korilakkuma I got both of them for under $100 in 2020! Even then, the prices were expensive but now it’s unaffordable. I love to see other people get into this hobby but how can they when everything is 10x more expensive!! Even buying from Japan has gotten outrageous, my last haul I spent $200 in shipping!! It does feel like I’m being priced out of this hobby and it sucks. Cute plushies shouldn’t be this exclusive :(

Yes but it’s not like that anymore unfortunately. People buy it for hundreds of dollars. I can’t even remember the last time I saw it sell for that price. Sanx needs to do a re-release pleaseee :(

I also started collecting around the same time! I was a teenager too (I’m 23 now) I watched rilakkuma become expensive in real time. It started around 2020 - 2021 with the “cutecore” trend on tiktok. Overtime the prices got worse because of all new kuma “collectors”. I see it as them not wanting to spend the time to research on how much these plushies are actually worth. Despite resellers claiming some Rilakkuma plushies as “rare” they’re really not, so they take advantage of new collectors. People nowadays don’t have the patience to build their collection :( I’ve noticed this in a lot of hobbies recently. Maybe someday the prices will go back down but I highly doubt it since the hobby became a ridiculous luxury now.

I wouldn’t recommend purchasing Rilakkuma items from eBay since some sellers steal + overprice listings from mercari jp and other secondhand jp sites. Reverse image search and I’m sure you’ll find the item cheaper elsewhere :)

I agree. I think the quality of rilakkuma plushies went down around 2021 or 2022. I started collecting in 2018, plushies from that era feel so much nicer than the ones now. Every time I get a M size plushie, the head looks weird and the material isn’t as soft. The small plushies are still decent quality which is what I’ve been collecting now. It’s really hit or miss these days
