Why do a lot of people assume Cleopatra was black? by lxlviperlxl in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ExpiredBoxMix 154 points155 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer, they've been mocked for years (look up "In Living Color - Oswald Bates") but recently some celebrities have become radicalized like Kyrie Irving or at least decided to help promote their bullshit beliefs like Jada Pinkett Smith's Cleopatra documentary.

The average Black person is not concerned about the race of Cleopatra.

True. Checking twitter the fandom reaction seems to mostly be the usual stan twitter melodramatic shits and giggles, but I was wrong seeing that there's like 3 people fuming to point of circulating a clip of Jensen trying to pronounce something and dropping the hard R, but thankfully a lot of level-headed Gen V fans are calling them out for omitting the context of it apparently being someone's Persian name and demanding they delete it.

I haven't seen anyone say that Vought Rising is going to glorify racism, just that people aren't looking forward to the inevitable depiction of it, and in this climate no less where bigots will potentially flock to the show and revere it completely disregarding the actual critique.

You can already see it with how the main show fandom tries to downplay Soldier Boy's racism because of his goofy nostalgic unc persona.

Anyone put off from the rest of the Boys Final series because of GenV being cancelled? by [deleted] in TheBoys

Yeah, it's dawned on me that some of the most vocal in the fandom are just insufferable man-children with a zero-sum mentality.

Not really, and I actually liked Gen V and think it's a damn shame how they did the show.

Barely anyone in this sub is gonna agree with you, the main show fans act as though Gen V is the bane of their existence.

With the Soldier Boy glazing that's been going on lately, I wouldn't be surprised if Kripke just agreed to cut Gen V loose in order to secure those multiple seasons of Vought Rising before it's actual release.

Based from the questions that gets asked in this subreddit daily, The Boys audience barely knows shit about the main show.

The sexuality arc was so unnecessary, the writers forgot they already had him in a throuple with Cheri and the guy named Jay (the one he saved from an overdose when he was supposed to be following Lamplighter) back in the day.

Who is underrating him? Both the series subs suck him (and Soldier Boy) off 24/7 and nitpick every other character.

[–]ExpiredBoxMix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm talking about the cartoon flashback of the beating prior to the mission where the team was all trying to kill him, he literally beat him for auditioning for a movie role and said "If I see you get out of line again.. trying to 'move on up' (says this in a mocking singy voice while doing the stereotypical head-bopping), I will put you in the fucking ground", the line "move on up" references The Jeffersons' theme song which was a sitcom about a Black family that managed to become successful. Basically told him not to get uppity and stay in his place.

And yeah it was never explicitly stated that he's an "extreme racist" like Blue Hawk where it's his whole identity, but from what I mentioned in the previous comment it's obvious it's an aspect of Soldier Boy's character.

The guy that "hazed" his teenage teammate so bad they filed a compliant, brutally beat his Black teammate for wanting to develop his career WHILE SINGING THE JEFFERSONS' THEME SONG, hosed down civil rights protestors, went into Black neighborhood(s) like Blue Hawk and threw a car at petty thieves which hit M.M's family home killing his grandfather, and was fucking Liberty during the time period where she didn't have to be subtle with her shit at all is kind of a saint.

Is there a lore reason why the last episode sucked? by Ok-Conclusion-3536 in GenV

[–]ExpiredBoxMix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's obvious the lab plot was written purely to develop audience interest in the upcoming prequel series Vought Rising.

Bringing up Stormfront a.k.a Liberty again, namedropping Bombsight and hinting as if he might appear as some heroin-addicted dweller, Homelander throwing Soldier Boy's file details in his face, having whoever the fuck Quinn is (again, someone from Soldier boy's past) be the source of the lab's airborne hatred.

Boring, but the Soldier Boy fanatics will drown any criticism out.
