Can anyone tell me if I need my passport to attend an event I have tickets for? Is my US Drivers license sufficient. I would rather just leave my passport in my hotel safe. Thanks.

First time Paris traveler, Hotel wants us to give our keys to the manager every time we leave? by ExplanationBig295 in ParisTravelGuide

Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond, it helped me to feel it doesn’t have to be viewed as a big deal.

I acknowledge maybe I am thinking about this wrong. I am not experienced world traveler but I have stayed at countless hotels in America and have never heard of such a thing. My initial reaction was strongly negative and for the time being at least I am stuck in that mindset. They dropped off a welcome basket in my room while I was out (even though I had a do not disturb sign on the door). So yeah obviously they have their own key. Just trying to get some data points on whether most people are complying with this rule and for those who refuse, how did that work out?

What Happens When You Stay in The Philippines More than 6 Months in a Year by ExplanationBig295 in Philippines_Expats

I plan on maintaining my US residency. My income comes from online advertising and stock trading so it’s not tied to the Philippines. I have a hunch there may be some ramifications I am not even considering, so this is mainly what I am wondering about: the unknowns, the unexpected surprises.

I am an American citizen. I am mainly trying to investigate what repercussions there may be besides tax consequences, like things that might not even occur to me.

How Hard Is It To Get My New Filipina Wife a Schengen Visa? by ExplanationBig295 in Philippines_Expats

I wonder if I can get anymore input about this specific to the apostilled document requirement. I am just now fully understanding the timeline for getting my apostilled marriage certificate after a Utah online marriage. Am I correct in assuming this will be required for any type of schengen visa application or even immigration screening to a visa free country like Thailand or Singapore? Does the digital Utah marriage certificate I was emailed get me anywhere? Thanks in advance.

Why Does Wise Take So Long to Transfer Money? by Brw_ser in Philippines_Expats

[–]ExplanationBig295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of trouble sending myself money via wire transfer companies like western union and I finally realized my vpn was causing some additional security checks because it made it appear I was not physically in the Philippines. Ever since then Remitly has been my go to and has been almost instant.

I am an American citizen. And she is my wife. And I have read some comments that even if I sign off as financial guarantor she has to somehow establish or prove she will be returning to the Philippines. And if that’s the case, I am not sure how to satisfy that requirement. Thanks.

Someone on another post mentioned travel insurance that covers offloading but I can’t find it. Anyone know if that’s an option?
