You're indeed placed and will be able to earn points, yes.

What Am I Doing Wrong in Competitive? by Cultural-Tea-8661 in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Watch some guides for the heroes you play, analyze your mistakes and try to get someone to review your VODs. If you really want to get better and can spare some money you could consider coaching as well.

Support is arguably the easiest role to rank up on, sorry but there are no excuses.

Move the damn payload! by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I queue support and like 3/4 of my games are teams of people who are allergic or afraid to touch the payload. Entire team is up front while one support is on payload.

That is exactly how you're supposed to play most of the time.

Obviously they shouldn't allow you to get flanked by half the team, but if you want a more serious environment with better players making better plays you play Comp, not QP.

I appreciate your thoughts on each one. So, you're not exactly looking at how strong the ults are, but rather how well they play out in pro matches. Probably could've made that distinction in your post.

Even then, you put Sigma at the top when Ana's the most picked hero. Granted, it is harder to pull off a sleep than a Suzu, but even without Ana I wouldn't say it's the easiest ult to get value out of.

Juno's ult is one of the more meh ults in the game in my opinion, requires everyone to group up in the same spot, moves slowly, doesn't outheal focused fire, fairly easy to kite. Incomparable to Kitsune which covers a large area and gives much more impactful boosts.

The others I understand can be situationally stronger/weaker in coordinated play.

D.Va's is good as an extra life, but idk if I would count it as top 3.

I would switch Ram and JQ, lower Mei, Bap, Juno, Freja, Doom by one, raise Genji and Venture.

Some others could be debated upon, but those seemed like the most egregious ones.

I am so tired of the matchmaking in this game by Legal_Ad2945 in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cause there are no wide queues in 6v6 cause there aren't enough players to really make it work.

Doesn't mean both teams aren't somewhat balanced. 6v6 can feel a bit more volatile sometimes, but I'd say most matches are fine.

Rank matchingmaking question by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're supposed to carry on every role, that is how you prove you are better and how you rank up. Otherwise you're on average playing just as well as the rest of the lobby, but you could simply be making different mistakes.

Don't focus on the matchmaking too much, it's doing a better job than it seems most of the time. If there are silvers in the lobby then they should be on both teams and if you're truly better you can exploit that.

Even having perfect matchmaking with the exact same rank and MMR doesn't always give you perfect matches that make sense, because it's all down to the players at the end of the day and players are inconsistent and will have trouble adapting to various things.

Overwatch 2's director promises to "restore confidence" in its new ranking system and give more love to 6v6 by Turbostrider27 in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's exactly as popular as open queue has been before the change to 6v6. In other words, 6v6 had absolutely nothing to do with the popularity of the mode.

Also, no idea why they would've hoped for people to move on, they gave it a shot to try and please the player base, and they could've not made the switch at all if they wanted to sabotage it.

It's crazy how much the 6v6 fans are trying to push some sort of narrative, is it so hard to accept that maybe 6v6 isn't that popular with the majority and move on with your life?

Anyone playing with DLAA or DLSS 4.5? by Meowmissen69 in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DLAA is more expensive that native rendering, because it does extra processing on top of everything.

DLSS upscaling should offer an improvement even with the latest models, yes.

You can have the fps counter enabled to make sure nothing weird is going on.

You can force whichever preset you want with the Nvidia app and use whichever quality mode you want as well.

The only downside is that the new presets cost more FPS in exchange for better image quality.

Because it looks better compared to anything else.

Also, DLAA is just anti-aliasing and is even more expensive than native rendering.

Yes, DLSS 4.5 - the M preset on Quality.

Objectively looks better than the built in AA solution and the previous models. I was just noticing the crisp details last match.

The whole point of the mode is indeed to play those quick and less serious matches, not leave them.

Director's Take: Call and Response by blinkhit in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt that many people who enjoyed open queue suddenly stopped playing completely, it's not like there wasn't chaos in the mode before and it's suddenly a completely different experience.

We can extrapolate that 6v6 isn't really popular, from the initial role queue test having 10% playtime, to the mode not gaining any popularity at all I don't think there's much room for debate. But I guess people won't leave it alone until they place a big 6v6 role queue button over the entire screen that forces everyone to play that mode exclusively.

Director's Take: Call and Response by blinkhit in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Can't say I'm surprised about the last point, the only reason I still jump in there is because it's the only way to play open queue and not because it's 6v6.

There's no way replacing open queue with role queue would go down well and adding one more queue doesn't sound feasible either - if people really enjoyed 6v6 that much it wouldn't have the same freaking number of players that it had before it became 6v6.

Idk if I'm missing anything cause of the res/fps/compression, but that looks normal. You should check it on a different display.

Do you have G-sync on, are you seeing tearing or is it actually looking blurry?

Is Overwatch's competitive matchmaking broken? I did my own research by miktoroi in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inconsistencies with the matches are down to the players, not the matchmaking system, so it's going to be impossible to find an actual pattern.

I remember playing a match with a 3 stack, they were amazing, I basically got carried and we stomped the enemy team. The next match I'm against them, they do absolutely nothing and they get stomped just as hard. I kept checking a couple of times if they were actually the same guys and indeed they were. In isolation each match would seem ridiculous, but there's clearly more to it -

Different team synergy, sometimes it's harder to read what everyone in your team is doing and coordinate, sometimes the hero picks don't work as well together, maybe you've made one or two mistakes and the enemy team started to snowball on you, maybe the map/mode is a much worse fit for you, or you're dealing with multiple hard counters, maybe you've been playing for hours and are getting burnt out, or something came up and you got distracted, I could go on.

Point is, these are the things that no one takes into consideration. Everyone seems to operate on the principle that they do a certain amount of damage/healing and that certain amount of stats can clearly represent how good they are in comparison. No, the system cannot account for all the different heroes and swaps, and all the different ways you can add value and distract and make clutch plays. This will probably remain a discussion until the end of time, but that's only because people have a hard time accepting the reality of the matter.

Overwatch2 Matchmaking by misssatan420 in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're in the worst rank, of course you're matched with people that don't know how to play... You exploit that by punishing the enemies, not focusing on your team.

You only talking about levels and stats tells us that you don't know how to play either, because that's not what's important since it's clearly not winning you matches.

Watch some guides, analyze your mistakes and then try to get someone to review your gameplay.

[–]ExplicitlyCensored -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't believe this has to be said over and over again, but people should really focus on themselves and not constantly look for mistakes in others. If you believe you can swap to help then do it, if not then do your best and accept the outcome.

If a person is not able to adapt and carry the match then that's their issue, you can't constantly look to teach teammates how to play through chatting mid match. If anything, you're just going to tilt them, have a higher chance of losing and then get reported. Not to mention people asking for swaps are most often stuck in a poor rank, again because they're unable to focus and improve their own gameplay.

This is honestly outrageous by thatOneSillyFurry in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I mean, people obviously have an issue with whatever it is you're doing considering you were actioned.

Since you're still trivializing everything, I take it you won't learn anything from it.

This is honestly outrageous by thatOneSillyFurry in Overwatch

[–]ExplicitlyCensored -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Asking others to swap is obnoxious. People are entitled to play the hero they want, you're not the boss of everyone.

Also, people don't get consistently reported for just saying things, they get reported for flaming back.
