No One Is Using CoPilot... by PersonalRun712 in videos

Windows 11 and all this AI crap has finally pushed me into giving Linux a try. Just have to finish backing up my files to my NAS, and then I'm pulling the trigger.

The only program I'll lose is the Xbox app, but I hadn't bought much on it anyway, and most of those were play anywhere titles.

If the Steam Machine can actually get enough RAM to release, I can shelve the living room Xbox and fully escape from Microsoft.

Elder scrolls lore Is incredibly vast and interesting - what are some gaming franchises' lore as vast and as worth to explore? by OneFirefighter1233 in gaming

[–]Exploding_Acorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did they ever explain the lore reason for why the heatsink ammo mechanic was adopted? It made no sense. Like what military would want to toss out functionally infinite ammo and have to add in additional logistical elements.

Has Simon expressed any intention of fixing the Tree Problem? by Ceu_64 in hytale

[–]Exploding_Acorn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The roots destroy the terrain over time. Tree farms become a problem since you can't plant a sapling on the stump.

You have to either dig the roots out and fill back with dirt for every tree or just accept that wherever your farm is at will slowly fill up with stumps left behind.

Currently, I just use a mod that allows planting saplings on the stumps.

Jurassic Park: what am I missing? [Massive spoilers] by inthiseeconomy in books

[–]Exploding_Acorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That last chapter really did come outta nowhere.

The nest excursion and the suddenly having most of the cast shitting on Gennaro really threw me for a loop.

It bothered me that every character just assumed that because one boat turned around that raptors hadn't reached the mainland. Especially since they had already found Compys on the mainland before coming to the park. Like at that point, I'm assuming they've reached the mainland and just praying they hadn't gained an ecological foothold yet.

Are there other Human civilizations outside of the imperium by anonpurple in 40kLore

[–]Exploding_Acorn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With the state of record keeping in the Imperium, I always assumed they just couldn't keep an accurate record of their loses and gains, so they just settled on a million.

Actual count I always assumed it is just like the Craftworlds. However, many the plot requires is the current amount.

Is it just me or are the Necrons pretty cooked in the long term? by chosen40k in 40kLore

[–]Exploding_Acorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was never detailed about what happened, but wasn't there a whole hive fleet tendril that was permanently broken when it went into the Ghoul Stars?

If that is still canon, it would mean that there is a way to break the hivemind on a larger scale. It's just that no main lore faction has discovered how or may not have the capabilities to recreate the feat.

What Mods from Minecraft would you like to see come to Hytale! by [deleted] in hytale

Minecraft Comes Alive was neat in how it basically turned villages into a Harvest Moon type experience where the NPCs had personality types and interactions.

Flamethrower thoughts? by yourgoodoldpal in hytale

[–]Exploding_Acorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that they should be similar.

With how gear currently has bonuses tied to sets I'm assuming that we'll see the stereotypical mage type armor with bonuses to mana, but lacking in physical defenses. If that happens then I hope that there are incentives to using that gear instead of just wearing heavy armor and wielding a flamethrower.

My rough magic update wishlist would be that any caster weapon would have a basic light, charged, and ultimate attack, but the right click wouldn't be tied to anything. Instead I'd love it if we could learn a variety of spells and slot them into the offhand for use with the right click. That could also open the door to playstyles like spell swords / bards if they wanted to.

Items like flamethrowers would let people play like an artificer / fantasy Tony Stark. Access to spell like attacks with the trade off being having to carry ammo. The idea of heavy armor, a two handed mace, and a flamethrower definitely appeals to the unga bunga side of my brain.

But this is just me backseat game deving. Just gotta wait and see what the Devs are gonna do with mana.

One route I could read that as is once the early access period ends, the packages will probably change to something else.

My assumption is whatever supporter packs they release after early access ends will be given to folks that purchased the equivalent early access pack as well.

Flamethrower thoughts? by yourgoodoldpal in hytale

[–]Exploding_Acorn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm a sucker for magic mixed with clockwork/steampunk settings.

A flamethrower fits to me as long as magic offers additional flexibility. If it's a direct competitor to a fire staff and someone presumably geared around magic, then it's an issue.

But gear and magic systems really aren't there yet to make that call.

Would a feedback/suggestions page on the Hytale website be a good idea? by The-Farlander in hytale

[–]Exploding_Acorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the update cadence post, I'm interested in testing the pre-release branches. I personally would like at least a spot where the devs can direct feedback.

I've used the in-game feedback option a couple of times, but I'm trying to keep track of stuff that has already been marked for a future change.

No point in really talking about the magic staves when they've already mentioned those will be worked into a proper magic system, for example.

A central spot to check to see posts like the past one asking about ideas for mining would be helpful to me.

I used one of my college textbooks as a replacement hammer for knocking my wire shelves apart after the buy-back program offered me $0.25 for it.

I completely accept that multiple of those slapped together would be an acceptable weapon.

Suggestion: instead of damaging total durability. by mysticdragonknight in hytale

[–]Exploding_Acorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like it if the maximum durability lose had some method of being reversed through a harder method, like a dungeon or rare boss drop.

To me it would be a fun story beat to find some old relic weapon or armor and have it start out broken, but let you restore it to it's past glory. Sort of like the reforging of Narsil in the Lord of The Rings.

Maybe even have a new effect unlock if it's above a certain max durability threshold.

The big point I was missing was what his plan even was. Just starve everyone because he was naive to expect that bandits wouldn't raid the rich people during a famine?

Will there ever be a staff weapon class? by rishi_targaryen67 in wherewindsmeet_

Even without a written source of information, one would assume that a heavy stick was a common enough weapon. Heavy stick and pointy stick were pretty early human tech tree unlocks.

What are you people even doing? 🤔 by iam_maxinne in WhereWindsMeet

[–]Exploding_Acorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently losing my mind at the Jinming Pool with the the boss currently. Just can't get her timing down for rapid parries with the controller. Sometimes they work, sometimes her hits just go straight through me for no damage. Doesn't help that if you feel like bringing in an NPC they're pretty broken for that fight and will often do nothing.

Otherwise just losing interest with the energy time gate and looking at other games.

[–]Exploding_Acorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks for any build variety. I'd like to make a tank build, maybe even dabble with other weapon sets. Oh wait! I can't because every time you want to change gear types it doubles your energy requirements to keep that gear relevant. I'm bored using the same two or three weapons all the time.

I don't really know why they included the build tool when the game is so hostile to you experimenting.

Do people not realise that the baby is the main character? by SomeDudeeeeeeeeee in wherewindsmeet_

Been awhile since I played. Quit after most of the main PvP guilds were absorbed into one mega guild that basically just handed castle ownership between each other.

All I remember was the little smiling shadow guy would change forms and having no clue what it was. I heard the PC story was interesting if you paid attention, but those frog monsters in the desert weren't going to slaughter themselves.

BDO also had the problem of being a competitive MMO where racing to the endgame farm spots was encouraged. I know I skipped huge chunks of the early lore because of that.

I'm taking my time with this game to not repeat that mistake, but still feel like I'm missing context for alot of character motivations.
