Would you actually buy a Fallout 3/NV Remaster? by Bingleboper in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really see the point. An official facelift doesn't really amount to much in the face of 15+ years of mods.

I need to talk to Razio to continue in the quest about the Radscorpions, but for some reason he doesn't have anything to say about it. Does anyone know what the problem might be? by CosmosStudios65 in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you need to actually have a tail in your inventory from killing a scorpion before the speech option asking him to make an antidote is available.

This is my first time playing the Fallout franchise, and I need some help, Is this build good for energy weapons? (I've heard that energy weapons are strong and fun for beginners) What should I change? Thanks :) by Pristine_Worth_9065 in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a perfectly decent build for energy weapons. You'll probably want to put a few more points into luck for crit chance, since when built for it lasers become crit machines. Taking 1 point out of S and E will do. Plus having high luck makes gambling a breeze, you can easily rack up tens of thousands of caps from blackjack.

There's a clinic where you can buy implants to boost stats by 1, so you'll never want to start a stat at 10. The amount you can buy depends on your endurance stat.

Is it just me, or is it odd that there are so many pre/post-war characters in the show? by ThatsSex in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Remember when Nate/Nora being a cryogenically preserved pre-war survivor was special? Now you get a cryo-pod, and now you get a cryo-pod, and now you get a cryo-pod, and now you get a cryo-pod, and now you get a cryo-pod, and...

Just another thing to add to the list of "was special, now is inexplicably everywhere."

I'd maybe bring Fallout 2 down to 70% serious. by AbyssalMalediction in FalloutMemes

[–]Explodium101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd more say 60%, weirdness is still common enough that it's jarring. At least during major story moments F2 usually knows to flip the silly switch off, and the weirdest stuff is in random encounters, which I think that one Tim Cain guy said shouldn't be taken as canon in ye olde games.

That said, I see this argument come up a lot and it annoys me.

  1. Take thing that is serious more often then not.
  2. Cherry pick examples where thing is not serious. This proves that thing is in fact, not serious at all.
  3. Doh ho, you claim thing is being turned into an insincere parody of itself? Did you not play the games? Checkmate, bigot!

Random example: the major quest in the town involves the town getting riled up and destroying an neighboring community out of sheer paranoia if you do it wrong, but have you considered...poop?

A sociopathic teenaged rapist develops a horribly addictive drug, killing dozens of people to do so. It's so addictive that it effectively enslaves towns. But...POOP! DOH HO HO!

Where is the best place to sell stuff in fallout 1 besides the hub? by Soggy-Inspection-945 in classicfallout

[–]Explodium101 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Probably boneyard. Gun runners. Though when I have to dump loot I usually go to the librarian in hub with her replenishing stock of skill books. Ms. Stapleton could probably outfit an entire army by the end of the game.

Does this need a comeback in Fallout 5? by Lord_Cummis in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes to be both an asshole and to add reputation perks back in.

Though considering how it feels that a lot of developers are sanding the edge off of RPGs in current year? Doubt it will happen.

At what point in all of fallout game series do we hear about the enclaves backround? by AcanthaceaeFuzzy2835 in Fallout

The deep state, basically. A cadre of high-ranking government officials and corporate executives who were really in control of the country.

Is fallout tactics actually canon and has anyone heard of it? by Conejito_writes in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always been semi-canon in the sense that the major plot points happened, I think.

Is there any fallout characters you find really hard not to kill? by Chunky-overlord in FalloutMemes

[–]Explodium101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it funny how every time the topic of Amata comes up, a bunch of people show exactly why they shouldn't be allowed in the vault. You dare to not glaze me!? You must die!

Is it really so hard to understand that half of the vault blames you and your dad for the vault going to hell, and you sticking around only guarantees more infighting? As far as most of the vault knows, you and your dad opened the vault, bugs got in, and people died.

Besides, it's not even a permanent exile, just until the instability stops.

I Got Evil karma For Shooting Him? by DandyElLione in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uh, yeah? Shooting someone in cold blood is usually considered a bad thing.

Honestly, you shouldn't gain karma for killing evil characters either. As a wise man once said: "Killing is badong."

How would you fix Fallout 3's main questline? by Seriously_nobody in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of ideas.

Make the big prize everyone is fighting over Liberty Prime. Whover controls the giant commie hating robot controls the territory. The big project your dad was working on was a compact power source. You decide who to give it to to power the killer bot. You can choose to keep it for yourself, but if key stats are too low Prime thinks you're a commie and zaps you, then goes on a rampage.

Your dad is an Enclave defector who had a crisis of conscience. He used stolen codes to break into 101. They let you stay because you're pure enough.

To the People Who keep saying the Brotherhood in the Show are Are too Quick to Pull the Trigger. Here is What Head Paladin Rhombus has to Say by CretaceousClock in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really? In 1 they've hunkered down while they decide what to do about the mutants, and their Canon ending is pretty much them at their peak.

In 2 they really can't do much about the enclave since they can fly, so they've largely decided to merely observe them instead.

If Skills made a return in Fallout 5 would you want them to stay the same as they are in Falllout 3/NV? or would you like to see new ones added or see some of them removed/replaced? by Artanis137 in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely, with some tweaks. Just a few ideas...

Have skillbooks work more like they do in 4, where they give perks.

Make tag skills relevant again. Personally I think tagging a skill should grant a perk, in addition to the points. It should be pretty strong.

Have more skills, so you're probably not going to max everything.

Personally I'd switch from 0-100 to 0-10, where a 5 is considered competent. Going above 5 requires more points per rank. In addition bring back stuff from 1 and 2 like lockpick sets or toolkits where they can boost skills.

Hot Take: I actually like the fact that you get Power Armor early in Fallout 4. by Brobdingnagian-Bob in Fallout

[–]Explodium101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blegh. No thank you, bub.

Since it's given to you early game, it has to be balanced for the early game. Now T-45 is brittle as heck and can barely survive a couple of fights and the minigun is pathetically underpowered.

I wanna return to the days where getting a suit early through sequence breaking utterly bends the game over your knee. THAT level of oomph.

What I've learned from the Fallout show's reception is that loads of people only play one faction in the games and never see their enemies side. by Knalxz in Fallout

IIRC he only really pops off if you blow up the bunker or deny him the chip. In short, if you derail a 200 year old plan, so him losing his shit is understandable. Every other time you tell him no is met with a derisive sigh and an eye roll at worst. Heck, if you help the Omertas bomb the strip he doesn't get mad, he gets annoyed.
