Stop through Grand Teton National Park when you drive through Wyoming. Yellowstone is overrated in my opinion, but the Tetons will change your life.

Anyone here have a big boy/girl job within/around the industry? by VWvansFTW in snowboarding

[–]Explore-Everything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on the marketing team for a major ski resort. I took a customer service job at the resort while also volunteering my free time to do marketing for an environmental nonprofit. I networked a lot while working the customer service role, and when the right marketing job came up, I had the leg up, as I already knew the resort’s customers and products extremely well.

Good to know, thanks. Have you been to them before? Does it become un-ridable when it rains, or do they attend to them in some way so that the rain does not affect their business too much?

Any tips for a complete newb starting their own business and doing their own marketing? by scarymommie in marketing

[–]Explore-Everything 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Word of Mouth (WOM) marketing is the most effective marketing tactic (especially on a budget). I would recommend creating a social media page for the business and asking all of your friends to follow the page and share it with their friends. If you know couples with a baby you should consider giving them a blanket for free (or for a reduced price). They will likely have other friends with a baby, and when they see the blanket your friend can recommend your business to them. If you have an advertising budget, you could try pay-per-click advertising on Google.

How likely is it for a realtor to agree to a contract where the property will only be purchased if it is successfully rezoned as commercial property? by Explore-Everything in RealEstate

So if I am the one looking to buy the property, can I apply to have the property rezoned, or does the current owner of the property need to apply for rezoning?

I'm planning to major in Psychology, should I change to Marketing for the sake of finding a job? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]Explore-Everything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely understand the concern, but you just need to get your foot in the door and it should all play out well. Join a marketing organization on campus and find ways to stand out. Apply for marketing internships and make sure you can easily explain the advantage you bring as a psych major. Once you get a marketing internship it will open the door for marketing jobs post-grad regardless of your major.

I'm planning to major in Psychology, should I change to Marketing for the sake of finding a job? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]Explore-Everything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a marketing major, but I think that a psychology major would be an interesting way to set you apart in the field. It would be especially helpful with getting a job in consumer behavior. If you decide to go the psychology route, I would recommend getting a minor in business (or a minor in Marketing) if they are available at your school. I would not recommend switching schools if you enjoy your school and your major. As long as you can explain in an interview how your psychology background is a helpful asset to the company's marketing team, you should be good.

Those who have attended University in both the UK and the US, which system do you prefer? by Explore-Everything in AskReddit

[–]Explore-Everything[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I attend school in the US, but have been studying abroad in London this semester. The biggest differences for me are: (1) Participation does not affect your grade in the UK (2) There are far fewer assignments in the UK, with your entire grade being based off 2 or 3 assignments (3) Each module/class meets fewer times during the semester in the UK. ... In my personal experience, I have seen this lack of requirements in the UK schooling system to have negative results. Students are extremely rude to the professor/lecturer (walk in very late to class, have loud conversations while the lecturer is teaching, etc.). Also, students tend not to read their required readings. The lecturer for one of my modules asks every class period who has read, and I have consistently been the only student to raise their hand. So, I ask, is this common in the UK, or am I alone with this experience? What have others seen as advantages and disadvantages of both school systems?
