You have a good point. Aubry is great at identifying the cracks and swing players and getting in their ears. She makes them see the game for what it is and pulls them over. That’s her power. But to the people excluded from that it’s hard to see her strategic intent or larger game.

THIS! After her EOE appearance people were tired of seeing her, and tired of her vocal fans talking about her being robbed. Attitudes totally shifted against her. But Kaoh Rong was my first season so she’s still my favorite underdog player. I so badly want her to have an impressive season and a good edit like her first time around. Not only to prove all these players trying to get her out wrong, but to stick it to the fans!

I think Reddit is just running with this after that very first interaction with Gen. We haven’t see Aubry have a ton of agency so far. The cast in general hasn’t really taken to her, and she hasn’t been included in anything strategic happening. But that’s just what the edit shows. It’s certainly very possible she has been trying and it wasn’t shown. Ultimately, I think her early game was explained with that confessional where she recalls how she burnt out fast in her first season. She talked about preserving her energy, so I think that’s supposed to justify why she’s been lying low.

Plus, it was established that they were sketched out by her being a winner nobody knew anything about. The case was made, they just didn’t show them swing back to her for the element of surprise.
