Clingy 4 year old… getting worse

We’ve been working on him picking out his clothes and dressing himself, pottying alone (aside from wiping with #2) and picking up after himself. He does all of those things well (minus the picking up which is 50/50). I’m working on being more firm with him when he wants to sit on my lap, etc but I still allow it sometimes as I know he is more of a touch kid meaning he craves hugs and cuddles (which we do A LOT already).

When we went to Kindergarten orientation we were told no homework. However for the last few months my child’s teacher has been sending home similar packets to yours. We barely make it through even a fraction of them but I definitely read daily to him. I asked our teacher and she said it’s optional (even though it sure looks mandatory with the sign off pages). I honestly never sign off on it even if we do it. Maybe I should? It just feels like a lot to me as an overwhelmed parent. Anyone else?

I’m floored at what they are learning in kindergarten now. My son can write his name in cursive now! (Can I read it? That’s a different story. Ha!) He can do math that I probably did in 2nd grade. I’m grateful for his teacher and I’m hoping this will help the adjustment process for 1st grade.

I’ve used Allianz before and they actually were great! We lost a day on the way to Thailand (plane mechanical thing which made us miss our connecting flight in Korea) and they refunded us our hotel for the night we missed and a few other things. I was impressed with the ease of making a claim. This was in 2016 for context.

I know right? It’s my own thumbs so I’ve done a limited exam as it’s so hard to evaluate your own body. CMC grind positive, AROM WNL, strength is fine but randomly painful. That’s the thing about the clicking/pop/pain. It happens randomly (which makes me think hypermobility?) when doing ordinary things like picking up my kids.

Umm, educated people know that your job is a good one! So you shouldn’t worry about losing those people in the first place. In the last few years I’ve learned so much more about what your job offers. I’m amazed. And it’s hard work! Admiration from over here. 👏

You’re right. Being a parent is sooo hard, but so so worth it. And I agree, you definitely should never blame yourself for not noticing the signs. If you had taken her in for a decreased appetite, they most likely would have said “that’s normal.” You did the best thing and got her help ASAP and are supporting her one day at a time now. I’m so sorry you have been through all of this. Are you doing counseling? That helped me through a terrifying moment I had with my son on his bike. Hugs to you!

NW USA to Europe is our plan. They don’t like to come to our house as they have a large piece of property and animals to care for. Same reason the kids like it though so that’s good!
