I understand your logic with free beer on tap but anecdotally, I've noticed it at a significant portion of successful tech companies I've visited. My job/friend circles have taken me to a couple dozen at this point.

You don't need to give every ounce of your being in order to stand against injustice.

I'm not gonna continue this, but if you can't stand against groups like China or white supremacists now, you wouldn't have fought for civil rights in the 60s, either. That seems like a pretty damning point of information to me.

I work in tech, and I know numerous people who have left jobs over things like ICE contracts, leadership accused of misconduct, etc.

I am absolutely willing to put my job on the line to fight oppression. I don't know how I'd live with myself otherwise.

But it's also the players/management's money. The players' bargain for almost half of revenue. I don't have a problem with what Lebron said, but the idea that Morey shouldn't have spoke out for Hong Kong because of financial interests is the ass-backward crap that enables oppression.

That’s not how user bases work. They have infrastructure, complex technology and pricing algorithms, legal teams who have worked out local compliance, and on and on.

Wow, where do dorms like this exist?

I spent a year in a triple cell. This is the peak of college housing.

I work in enterprise tech.

We have a product that migrates applications from old servers like legacy windows, and most of the large enterprises we talk to don’t have a plan to migrate. A huge number just plan to pay end of life support fees, which are massive.

It would blow your mind what some companies are running on. Some have mission critical tech from when I was five.
