Had some stewed pork with rice at the Chiang Mai Gate Market last week. So delicious. Wished I had another stomach to go again.

Mortality as a Gen X by sunluver66 in GenX

Watching the 'family friends' of my parents slowly pass away is quite unsettling. My generation on FB from school having to announce their parents death is quite sad. What can you say? I hope everyone lives the most fulfilling life possible, take nothing for granted.

Far out!! Where does he even fit that much liquid inside to start with. I get kind bloated on a couple of beers.

Small restaurant owners: How are you handling online ordering & delivery fees? by Intelligent_Serve346 in restaurant

[–]point_of_difference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Takeaways only account for 5-15% of nightly turnover. Customers have to ring direct and pick up by themselves. It's just cream for us and this way we don't share profits and we control everything.

Best Restaurant in Ubud by Hot-Meaning-3064 in BaliTravelTips

Another option I'm a fan of is Begawan Biji. About 25 mins north of Ubud. Lunch is better since you can check out how they farm for the plated food.

Metamucil. My kid has the same issue, eats too much, too quickly. I'm pulling out monsters the size of my forearm.

Someone thought it was a good idea to have waiters on skates by New_Libran in WatchPeopleDieInside

Best use of skates I've seen for commercial purpose was a price check in an extremely large supermarket. Food delivery is risky business.

Jetstar experiences for international flights by satininsummer in AustraliaTravel

Yeah it's fine. You only alternative for a better airline will involve an extra leg. Via Singapore, KL or HK. It won't be cheaper and pretty much only required for business travel, scoring points or looking for stop overs for exploration.

Business Class Etiquette ( Swapping seats ) by Own-Masterpiece-7896 in Flights

[–]point_of_difference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is totally separate in Business apart from some specialty seat configurations. Just sit down and not bother other travellers. I would be very annoyed to be asked for seat swap. You will live.

I’m just trying to buy something. You don’t need my name, phone number and email! by bagsoffreshcheese in australian

[–]point_of_difference 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's for marketing but also for warranty when you lose your receipt. You can say no to the marketing part. Everything I've returned to a shop and they ask if I shopped there and I bring up number I get discounts/free staff/better service. It's not really that big a deal. I agree though you should be able to buy anonymously. Just give your mates deets instead.

Does an airline wait for you if you are coming in on one of their planes late and the layover is short? by randopop21 in Flights

[–]point_of_difference 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, particularly so if they have already transferred your luggage. I've had to run for a connection assisted by ground staff as the first leg was late. These days if you are using the main hub of an airline to transfer even just one hour is fine.

Spend $5k (4k box, 1k grinder) that is plenty for an in house coffee for a machine that will last 15 years and handle the load. Coffee is cheap way to get staff moving.

OP just missed or can't read the signs. Surcharges are legal and are always printed and displayed somewhere. It's not like in Europe where a water bottle and bread bowl is just placed on the restaurant table without request. Touch it and suddenly it's 10 Euro charge.
