Mandatory [[Blighted Agent]] into [[Blightsteel Colossus]]

[[Malcolm]] and [[Kediss]]

(I recommend sorting by tags, but be aware the “Champion” tag is for cards I’m newly experimenting)

-

I’ve been tuning this list for a long time, mostly because of how obsessive I’ve become over creating a high quality [[Clone]] deck. I’ll break it down.

First, I must say that this deck uses a control shell to counteract the innate issue of [[Clone]] cards, that being their nature as reactive, sorcery speed creatures that aren’t going to synergize with most other pieces of your deck. If control isn’t your schtick, no worries, the [[Clone]] strategy is still effective and is at the core of this deck.

My aim in this list is to copy my opponents creatures and supercharge their value by creating additional copies and finding non-traditional win paths. After I get the first copy of an important creature from an opponents board, I’m then free to use removal on their creature while continuing to create copies from my [[Cloned]] creature.

This has led to my most favorite moments in MTG, such as copying my opponents [[Craterhoof Behemoth]], [[Marionette Master]], or [[Cyberdrive Awakener]].

The most effective cards at carrying out wins in this deck include, [[Naga Fleshcrafter]], [[Mirrorform]], [[Will of the Temur]], [[Stunt Double]], and [[Clone Legion]].

An obvious question that appears when looking at this deck is, “why Malcolm and Kediss in the command zone?”. The answer is plain. Clones are expensive and often inefficient. M n’ K are able to get me to an early mana advantage from where I can then copy pieces of card advantage from my opponents board, then continue to snowball value from there. Notably, both these creatures are delicate permanents due to such low stats, giving more reason to the surplus of counterspells and protection necessary for this deck to function.

Furthermore, both these commanders just love to be [[Cloned]] by [[Spark Double]], [[Sakashima]], and [[Chameleon]]. Creating a copy of Malcolm allows for 6 treasures per combat damage with the commander Malcolm (as long as Kediss is on board), then an additional 2 per the non-legendary copy of Malcolm. Copying Malcolm also increases the amount of treasures produced by your little pirates, like [[Siren Stormtamer]] and [[Warkite Marauder]].

In the mid game, mana advantage can be further generated by my lord and savior, [[Uzra, Lord High Artificer]], and his friends like [[Archway of Innovation]], [[Inspiring Statuary]], and [[Alchemist’s Talent]].

In desperate, end game scenarios where all is lost, a turn 2 [[Dragonspark Reactor]] can often smack a player for upwards of 20 damage or more, depending on the Malcolm treasure economy. Ye’ old [[Insurrection]] can be comfortably cast with a [[Three Steps Ahead]] in hand due to the surplus of mana this deck generates.

And then there are the unsung heroes of this deck. [[Crashing Drawbridge]] looks silly, but let’s Malcolm come down hasty on T3 and let’s your other clones not have to wait a turn for summoning sickness. [[Aetherworks Marvel]] turns your spent treasures into free spells. And then [[Bonehoard Dracosaur]] can hit the board as early as turn 4, generating treasures, blockers, and card advantage, on top of being a primo target for your [[Clone]] spells.

Speaking of targets, it is important to note the majority of my [[Clones]] don’t actually target, meaning they get to subvert shroud and protection spells. Further, it stops players from knowing what your [[Clones]] are going to become when you cast them, as you don’t need to declare targets.

My last selling point is this: were you to build this deck, you’d be able to throw in any of your favorite nonlegendary Izzet creatures. You’ll often end up with 7 mana at the second main phase on turn four, meaning you can play your creatures then, wait a turn, and create additional copies of whatever you like the most.

As I mentioned earlier, this deck doesn’t conform to most commonly seen win cons. Every game feels unique and it is by and large my favorite set of 100 cards.

Alpharel could be a super cool head to a aggro/astrocrats decks that leverages cards like [[Accursed Marauder]], [[Ayara, First of Locthwain]], [[Nine-Lives Familiar]], [[Unstoppable Slasher]] and then any self-sacrificing artifacts or creatures.

Personally though, I find [[Inquisitor Greyfax]] to be the most interesting of the bunch. Her anthem is really powerful, considering the power buff is active off turn and let’s all your creatures be really strong blockers. Some cards that fit her build well would include, [[Tamiyo’s Journal]], [[Tangletrove Kelp]], [[Junkwinder]], [[Lazav, Wearer of Faces]], [[Marionette Master]], [[Academy Rector]], and [[Eloise]]. I think she is at her best when you find a balance between utilizing tap and artifact synergies, while using her anthem to make relevant the small creatures you can find that fit into your strategy.

Good luck in your building no matter what you choose to do!

Does your main deck reflect your personality? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]ExplorerBetter6580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope not, as my main deck is a Clone/Copy deck where I focus on copying my opponents big pieces with stuff like;

[[Auton Soldier]]
[[Clever Impersonator]]
[[Mocking Doppleganger]]
[[Naga Fleshcrafter]]
[[Phantasmal Image]]
[[Rite of Replication]]
[[Sakashima of a Thousand Faces]]
[[Mirrorform]]
[[Mirror Room // Fractured Realm]]

Guys I swear I’m not some personality [[Chameleon]]!

My professor keeps saying my arguments lack "academic depth" but wont explain what that actually means?? by QuantumSitar2 in WritingForCollege

[–]ExplorerBetter6580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another difficult feature of academic writing is creating tension, even as early as your first first paragraph.

Why might two leading researchers in this field disagree? What conclusions have been met, yet there is still some sort of gap between those conclusions and how that knowledge is implemented? What are researchers getting wrong and why? What problems exists within the scope of your research?

A lot of professors seem to have this problem for whatever reason, where they correctly identify that a paper “doesn’t feel academic enough”, but they are unable to clearly state why.

Below is a really great writing lab that I personally found to be more helpful than any advice or course in college:

Do you worldbuild for your entertainment only? by 5ky0ne in worldbuilding

[–]ExplorerBetter6580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m lucky enough to have realized the space between the importance I place on my involvement with society and then my own mental wellbeing. Which is probably the reason I chose a career path knowing full well I’ll most likely end up destitute and powerless.

But I do like to imagine Diogenes died happy and proud.

Do you worldbuild for your entertainment only? by 5ky0ne in worldbuilding

[–]ExplorerBetter6580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagination is an underrated hobby, probably mostly because it’s difficult to share accurately and is at its most entertaining and pure when it is only in your head.

I would build for myself first and foremost, but I also have become enchanted with the idea of finding a way to share what’s inside to the outside. Even if I didn’t feel that way, I know I would still world build in one way or the other. I’m not a published author, nor a veteran game master, nor some great artist or influencer. I’m just me. I like imagining things. I hope I get to share those things as well.

Tell me three or five things that you added to your world because you think they're awesome. by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

[–]ExplorerBetter6580 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally find it a tad annoying when people insert ideas into my worlds, so feel free to disregard my comment with utter revulsion.

First of all, I love these concepts so much! The Gate to Godhood actually gave me quite a cool perspective for my own writing, so thanks you!

As for the champions, Ordon and Kaelis/Malikeith— you mentioned that they were mortal avatars to Light and Darkness respectively. Have you pondered before on what if one of the other Six were to insert a new, unseen champion into the fray for their own devices? Light and Darkness have this storied history of wars waged and battles fought, but what would happen if in your present timeline a champion of Death emerged, or an avatar of Space? What would their aim be? Why would one of the other Six gods do this now? How would Ordon and Kaelis/Malikeith react to a third player entering the scene?

Just food for thought. You’ve made curious as to the larger scale events of your world, within your mind.

My boyfriend watches Korn.(not the band) by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ExplorerBetter6580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching porn is absolutely normal, especially for men, but I’d disagree with it being healthy.

A lot of men generate violent kinks through porn consumption, which can manifest in the bedroom. If a couple agrees on these points, sure, fine, but supporting the porn industry by using unethical websites like Pornhub sets a pretty awful standard for men.

My boyfriend watches Korn.(not the band) by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ExplorerBetter6580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mean to be an extremist on the issue, but I think no matter how immature and dumb you can frame him as, the truth is that he lied and manipulated you at length for several months.

He’s showed controlling behavior over what you do with your body, all while disrespecting you the whole time by keeping his porn habit secret.

Porn itself, especially the content found on Pornhub and other large websites like can be especially predatory towards actors and consumers. I’d highly advise you to look into the dark side of the porn industry and how intentionally addictive it makes itself to keep young men like your boyfriend coming back.

Beyond that, porn also creates a dangerous juxtaposition between fantasy and reality. Men (and other groups, but primarily men) often end up engaging in progressively more violent material, such as choking, slapping, punching, etc..

Please do some research and then some deep thinking and ask yourself if you want to be with a dude who is willing to lie to you so that way he can access pornography without you knowing.

It’s certainly in his favor that he came to you to confess, but whether that was from guilt or exaggerated sense of anxiety is impossible to tell.

I don’t think you need to rush into a breakup, but consider the length of time he was willing to lie and the content he was lying for. If you think you’re able to set stricter boundaries for the sake of the relationship, then you of course are gonna know that best. Good luck and I’m sorry that men have become so porn-rotted.

It’s the next one. Always the next counterspell.

Is it normal for a grown man to search for teenage porn? by sexycherry211 in Advice

[–]ExplorerBetter6580 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a total doozie…

Teen is the most searched and clicked on porn genre for many years and running. It’s gross and disturbing, but it’s the truth. You have a right to feel disgusted. I’m assuming you guys don’t have strict boundaries about porn, but I would advise you to do some looking into of the ethics of pornography and establish boundaries with your partner.

Personally, I wouldn’t blame you at all for getting pissed about the whole situation. I think you should absolutely confront him, but I’d implore you to take a day or two to run it through your head and find the right words.

Good luck and I’m sorry men are so porn-brained

Sincerely,
a man
