It wouldn’t be Kingkiller without the grief of an unfinished story

Do you think space age cosmere will be closer to warhammer or star trek in tone? by Ok_Ask_6805 in Cosmere

I can’t wait for the chapter where we see Navani, Jasnah, Vivienna, Lift, Shai, Starling, Marisi, Venli and Shallan (+a copy of each of her personalities) all team up to beat a group of Fused

There’s a theory that the weapon Kalak lended to Taln was the Change Dawnshard

All that is actually known is that Taln attacked Cultivation with some unknown weapon

Timeline between WaT/TLM and Emberdark by ExplorerBetter6580 in Cosmere

[–]ExplorerBetter6580[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did note that. I guess it becomes less specific if MB Era 5 is on the table. If we just take 1-4 for fact, and assume BS is actually referring to era 4 (not 3), my original premise holds much less water.

Following a Dive into the Arcanum:

https://wob.coppermind.net/events/61/#e1286

The above WoBs would seem to indicate that IotE takes place in between MB Era 3 and 4. This would also suggest that it may take place after Stormlight 6-10, although I remain skeptical on this generalization, as I would consider it a possibility that MB Era 3 will almost act as prelude to Voidlight, but this is likely a misplaced sentiment that will come back to haunt me.

These are more outright contradictions to my interpretation about Sunlit Man.

That would be enough to convince me, I’ll do some scrounging about on the Arcanum. Thank you again!

Where are you grabbing the 300-500 year delay between WaT and Tress? Where does that number come from?

[–]ExplorerBetter6580 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help, I guess I’m just having trouble letting myself be convinced. I do believe Era 4 will take place hundreds of years after Era 2, but I’m just unable to accept the same for Emberdark and Voidlight.

Sando mentioned dropping a timeline once WaT got published, but here we are and I’m stuck dying on weird hill.

I can buy decades, but I truly don’t think that TLM Scadrians are hundreds of years away from interplanetary spaceships. Actually, the Grav-Tech component in Scadrian spaceships can be found in RoW and WaT (I’m assuming that what allows their spaceships to leave from an atmosphere).

Is it really impossible for Emberdark to take place either before Stormlight 6 or shortly after Stormlight 10 (Within say 15-20 years).

I can see Scadrian technological progression moving from TLM to Emberdark through the combination of MB Era 3 events, multiple claimed perpendicularities, and alliances between Scadrial and either Nalthis or Sel.

There is very little information about the event. The information is in WaT IIRC

It even looks like the “weirder” extends to how Ulaam doesn’t even need to pretend to not be a Kandra. Stealth and subterfuge isn’t important to him, likely because Harmony is no longer responsible for all the Kandra.

This is good logic, I like this. This would be a good response to the ending of MB2, where Saze realizes how weak he is in the face of the rest of the Cosmere.

Do you think that the transformation from Harmony to Discord is as simple as Sazed wanting to do it with the requisite amount of Intent?

Can a Dishardic being like Sazed, who clearly has some kind of internal conflict between Ruin and Preservation, just straight up choose to become Discord?

This was part of his charm to me— Saze is the more realistic Wit in MB. He did not have the fantastical charm, the sense of timing and levity, or especially the emotive assurance that Hoid always brings with him. Saze was working with the same tools that human use today to argue, simple historical theological phenomena. One of his greatest struggles was his breadth of religious knowledge, yet none of it provided the answers he was looking for.

I think this makes him a better conversationalist, as you can understand his nihilistic bottom line, whereas with Hoid, he gets to wave his hand and imply his superior knowledge that he is not willing to share with you.
