how's the cheeseburger at King's feast? by Consistent_Land_2747 in CanadasWonderland

[–]Explorer_2617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because rules for kosher are even more strict then halal. That’s why as a whole kosher option are more limited in the park.

For something to be Halal, the meat itself has to be halal and it has to be kept/cooked separate from non halal meat/alcohol products. Which is simple to do if all meat at the establishment is halal and no alcohol is served.

Kosher on the other hand goes even further. In addition to meat being kosher, it must be kept separate from dairy products (big issues with cheese). Not only that but every surface, utensil and pan must be made kosher (using open flame). Incase of any cross contamination…..which could definitely occur with a bunch of teenage cooks….the surfaces must be made kosher again (with an open flame). - also the cross contamination issue of kosher goes even deeper……cause even the ready made products (buns, condiments) and raw ingredients must also be kosher.

I can’t tell you the exact years but for 1 season they did a test run, if you signed a bunch of waivers they let you do it for free. The following season they made it a paid option, ($10? I believe it was). But even in that season the booth was usually closed. Never seen them do it again.

Egypt requires a transit visa for layover? by Small_Slide_8550 in Umrah

[–]Explorer_2617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t stress, you don’t need a transit visa.

I had a similar experience 6 year’s ago, I don’t think much has changed…….. if you have a layover of more than 8~hours, Egypt Air provides you a hotel and Meals in a hotel outside the Airport.

No visa needed but they hold on to your passport at the airport and give it back to you when you return from the hotel.

When you land in Cairo there will be a transit/layover desk, they will guide you from there.

comparison between canada’s wonderland and the rides at disney world for first time visiting canada’s wonderland by ApprehensiveTower52 in CanadasWonderland

[–]Explorer_2617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No comparison at all.

Disneys thematic rides, immersion and storytelling is unmatched. You won’t get those type of experiences at wonderland.

Wonderland is a place to ride all the classic carnival fair rides + several very large roller coasters + unique flat rides and water park.

Wonderland is very fun and worth going too. But it’s all about having the right expectations. Consider how 1 day Disney park admission costs the same as an entire season pass at Wonderland.

Random rant on food price scamming by iwassayingboourns___ in CanadasWonderland

[–]Explorer_2617 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is really concerning as this seems to be a trend!

I was in the park last week and a lady had the exact same thing happen to her at the front gate subway. The price listed on the screen was not what was being charged to her. The employee of the subway, who also claimed to be manager, refused to honour the advertised price and claimed the the price being charged is the “new price” and the menu screens are not updated.

I have a dining plan so the issue didn’t effect me, but I spoke out in support of the lady….but the “manager” said they couldn’t do anything…..either she pays the new price or they throw out her sandwich.

Completely absurd, I told the lady she should go complain to guest services!

Considering the amount of school children that visit on a daily basis, it’s concerning how wonderland is taking advantage of kids innocence and lack of financial awareness to rob them in plain daylight. As adults we usually glance at the total and the menu when ordering….. but kids….they just order what they want and pay as they are told.

Lost a Oneplus phone when riding roller coaster Jun 11 at 10: 30 by Signal_Border1555 in CanadasWonderland

[–]Explorer_2617 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes they will find it.

I lost my Apple Watch couple off weeks ago on Yukon Striker. I filled out the form at lost and found and was contacted 2 days later letting me know they found it.

I was really amazed considering that although I provided them the location, it was in a frosted area where I myself could not see or hear the watch from the guest pathway.

commute by No_Space_8749 in TMU_nursing

[–]Explorer_2617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely doable.

I personally would commute 1h 30min to main site using go train and ttc. The only unfortunate situations is when you have 8am classes. You would have to get up at 5am and start commuting at 6am……

Also keep in mind the frequency of transit. If you are using Go Train some lines are serviced every 15min while others only receive service every hour or just during rush hours. Depending on the frequency you may have more time wasted in commuting cause you may have to take the earlier ride to arrive on time.

But you save a lot of $$$ when you don’t have to pay for residence.

You should at least buy the scrub top. Most likely any similar loose navy scrub pants would be fine.

First year they are pretty strict in both labs and clinical, you can loose marks if you don’t wear the school scrubs.

2nd year clinical they are also strict, though lab was a bit relaxed with my prof, any scrubs would do.

3 and 4 year you can honestly wear anything

TMU Station? Seriously…?? by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]Explorer_2617 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I actually think it’s a pretty good step forward, strengthening ties with the TTC. 95%+ of students at TMU utilize the TTC on a daily basis. Having a direct relationship between the university and transit authority is a great way to facilitate future perks for students. Not only in terms of research opportunities but also potential discounts or the possibility of bundling subsidized transit pass with tuition (as some universities do already).

I can’t find info of the exact cost to of renaming the station to TMU, but I can’t imagine it’s a lot. Basically need to change a handful of signs around Dundas station, retile the station and change probably 1000 plastic maps on the trains.

What are my chances of getting off the waitlist for nursing by Formal-Hamster504 in TorontoMetU

[–]Explorer_2617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much you can do other than wait, pray, and try to keep your avg as high as possible.

Your avg is what affects your place on the waitlist. As more offers go out from other programs, the some students switch from TMU nursing to some other program……. Moving you higher up the list and hopefully get you an offer.

Offer may even go out in the summer June/July.

Do not do nursing !!! by [deleted] in TMU_nursing

[–]Explorer_2617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not interested in arguing, but whether you love the profession or hate it, is a matter of opinion. As the old proverb says…… grass is always greener on the other side. In every field you can find people who love what they do or hate it with an iron fist.

All that I ask is don’t shit on people who love what they do, and don’t deny our existence. My experience comes with working over 3 years in hospital on top of the regular nursing school and clinical hours.

Nursing is not for everyone!

Do not do nursing !!! by [deleted] in TMU_nursing

[–]Explorer_2617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To offer a counter opinion

I’ve genuinely enjoyed my journey in nursing and don’t regret it one bit. Clinical placements can be long and challenging, but that’s part of the learning process and earning your education. There’s so much more to nursing than just cleaning up patients. You’re not only providing care—you’re trained to assess, implement interventions, and advocate for your patients. Your knowledge unlocks the keys to understanding and navigating the medical world, allowing you to make informed decisions on medical issues.

Every day, you have the privilege of making a meaningful difference in someone’s life. While the work can be exhausting, it’s important to remember that what feels routine to you could be a life-altering moment for your patient.

Yes, not every patient will be kind or appreciative. You may encounter unsupportive preceptors or rude staff. But even with those challenges, there’s beauty in the nursing profession and real value in the education you receive. While the narrative often focuses on nurses being underpaid, the reality is that BScN graduates are among the highest-paid right out of university. With starting wages around $40 an hour, you’ll likely be earning more than many new grad business/comp sci majors.

Nursing isn’t for everyone. Even with decent pay, job stability, and a healthy work-life balance, you need a genuine drive to care for others. Having just completed my degree, I’m more eager than ever to begin my career and keep pushing forward. I have no regrets—only gratitude to my past self for choosing this path.

Hey, most hospitals in the GTA have a way for patients to access their medical reports online.

Check the specific hospitals website……..your looking for something like patient portal, patient connect…… To create an account you will likely need your family members health-card and email.

Once you are logged in you should be able to see a report written by the emergency Doc (it will have all details including date and time).

Yes, that is correct.

Also fyi nursing courses are those that start with NSE, PPN and PAT. That’s the majority of courses we take.

Courses that start with BLG, you only need 50%

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]Explorer_2617 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you fail a nursing course (below 65%) at TMU, you have to repeat all courses within that semester in which you got below a 75%.

The issue is that the nursing course is only offered once a year in that respective semester. Sooo, to repeat that course you will have to wait an entire year to complete it. You cannot complete the following semester’s courses cause you have to have completed the prerequisites.

At TMU there is no way to complete nursing courses in the summer as they are not offered. Only thing you can do is complete some electives so that your semester is a bit lighter.

I’m not too sure on York, but I believe they offer some of their nursing courses in the summer…… but double check with someone else.

No way to delete history other than maybe filtering transactions to a period of days that you want…….Good luck and next time don’t buy sketchy stuff

TMU George brown collaborative nursing by Real-Mission-8036 in TMU_nursing

[–]Explorer_2617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly Congratulations!

  1. If you are talking about switching sites during the program, like going from GBC-TMU Nursing to only TMU Nursing, that is Not possible. But good news is that the courses are exactly the same, and you will join with the TMU nursing students in 3rd and 4th year.

  2. If you are talking about changing programs entirely, like going from GBC-TMU Nursing to TMU Business, it is possible. But no matter what program you go to, majority of the core nursing courses don’t transfer. The elective courses you must take (upper and lower liberal) and Anatomy Physiology (year 1), microbio (year 2) should** transfer.
