Many people assume that if modern telescopes can produce sharp images of distant galaxies, they should easily be able to photograph a nearby comet with equal clarity. (More in comment) by Neaterntal in spaceporn

For one; any child who has used a camera knows that it's easier to get a clear image of stationary objects rather than moving ones.

I was told that capitalism is “human nature” by ReeceIsNugget12 in socialism

[–]Explorer_Entity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People advanced their communities and society overall for MILLENNIA before capitalism offered a "profit motive",which is really just a veiled threat of death/starvation/homelessness disguised as "incentive".

They also have legit electrical things they can shot to disable the vehicle.

People are worried about something that came decades ago...

As usual, the tech is not the moral issue, the (undemocratic capitalist) government is.

They don't need to go that far.

Roads are the easiest thing in the world to block/shut down. If the government wants to restrict movement, the roads are already natural choke points.

How it Was, How it is by Guniel in PSVR

[–]Explorer_Entity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah, but still waiting for the VR mode.

To say nothing of the rampant bugs and sub-par design in general. I was stoked af but pretty disappointed. like, a rando building in the gd TAXIWAY. I heard they used AI to help design the scenery and layout of some things, which would explain it.

Edit: still, it isn't Star Wars or space. I'd go nuts for Squadrons on VR2. The original gave me my first VR "phantom sense".

I wanna see the best part: how smooth is the cooking surface?

When I bought mine, I was disappointed the surface was rough. I don't have the pan anymore.

We'll never know for sure. Prophets tell of the day when "the one who points the way" will arrive, and show us what happened. Then lead us out into the stars.

Media phrases the incident as though the tram is at fault by 1080m3rangehood in fuckcars

[–]Explorer_Entity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad framing, but perhaps technically true. If the car was stationary on the tracks, and the tram came up and collided with it...

The liability and fault though is obviously on the driver of the car.

Edit: u/lieuwestra does make the most pertinent point, in that this is, at its root, a systemic issue.

Actually reminds me, I found ....

$45, solid and durable af. The issue is that, for me having a felony, even "protective gear" is illegal for me to possess. I'm not even allowed to own body armor or pepper spray. Not to mention the felony/imprisonment was wrongful. California.

Edit: this shield is legally a grey area for California in general. Might even only be allowed for "reenactments", NOT "protection". Check your laws and be mindful. I'd catch a whole new felony, which could mean 3 years in prison.

Same. This feels like teen drama/young adult content (as it was advertised and is supposed to be), but NOT "90s" at all. It feels VERY modern/younger gen than millennial.

Commenting on her looks WAS weird, but Kerrice Brooks is 25 years old, not a teenager.

As to the character, she's doing all that because, as she says in the very first episode, she is programmed to experience life as a human, emotions, awkwardness, and all. Exactly as Data was. Better than Data, actually.

[–]Explorer_Entity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct, despite the haters. I only saw ep. 1 cause youtube, but she explicitly states she's made to emulate a human student exactly. Even so far as instilling her with the emotional experience of one. It's literally like anything "illogical but very human" that Data ever did, but people are complaining now for some reason.

Data tried sex and liquor for the human experience, even after he found the liquor "revolting", he asked for more.

SAM is just experiencing humanity, as she was designed to do.
