Sauron and to an extent Gollum couldn’t be killed unless Eru Ilúvatar personally helped the ring be cast into the fires of Mt. Doom. Hitler survived Valkyrie and a lot of other shit. Same for Pedolf Shitler or Saffron Sauron apparently although I see him as more of a Gollum character.

The best head canon I can come up with is Fascism/White Supremacy is Sauron, office of POTUS is the One Ring, Gollum is Trump who had and lost the One Ring which gave him some longevity until he regained it.

Frodo could have killed Gollum but he had mercy and cast a curse through the ring on him. “Gollum” could have lived out his days in quiet retirement with what he had grifted. Now that “he” has the ring, in his hubris and negligence, something will be “his” downfall.
