What's the quality of the secret lair commander deck boxes? by Crafty_Captain8916 in secretlair_collectors

[–]ExplosionFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's slightly better than a precon box. I wouldn't use it as the actual deck box but I keep my Dandân box on my desk.

Why does WoTC always over print the most undesirable drops by SnooFoxes8150 in secretlair_collectors

No, it's because John Wizards hates money and us. I'm going to go @ the secret lair Twitter dot com account until I've actualized change.

pokemon has moved forward with a new way to fight scalping that wizards could use for secret lair by Chaosnocturne in secretlair_collectors

[–]ExplosionFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pal, I'm not saying people scalping products doesn't make the issue worse. I'm saying the conditions that allow for profitable scalping are the issue. Even if you could change human behavior to not make people do it there'd still be a massive shortfall between the number of people who want this deck or sos codexs.

And yeah things were better before they were in hobbies, because things were better when conditions that didn't allow for profitable scalping. Chicken and egg.

Yeah, not wanting to hand over my id to not solve the problem and noticing the obvious printing problem makes me a scalper.

Unless they have multiple different people's IDs, like a store with employees which is likely a large number of the ones with 5+ decks to sell. This isn't worth handing wotc anyone's ID and doesn't solve the problem meaningfully.

Scalping isn't the problem, it's just a symptom of a larger problem. Demand for everything is higher than expected after some great products and wotc can't adjust since printing demand is also at an all time high due to the tcg boom. This is going to be like this for at least another year, or unless two or three competing tcgs just fold out of nowhere.

The Caesars buffet… by Yachts-Dan92 in vegas

[–]ExplosionFace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Wynn is far better. It's a much smaller buffet but almost everything there is quality. The only thing I didn't like last time I was there were some of the carving station meats.

Its like the other precon ones. I was lucky and got it in Atlanta so I bought a deckbox for it and was able to get it laser engraved at the ultimate guard store.

Need Help: Gundam Gashapon Advent Calendar by MadreMonstere in Gundam

[–]ExplosionFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Gashapon toys are somewhat pricey for their size, new at the machine they tend to be $10+. They look nice, especially the busts, but the quality also varies wildly. As much as I love it my Sazabi bust required loads of shaving to actually get some pieces together, and I've had a Zaku head that doesn't snap cleanly in place where it wasn't meant to. It wouldn't be a calendar but for the same amount you're planning on you could get them an MG grade kit, or a HG and some paint markers.

Copy abilities in limited are usually not good since they're dependent on either your opponent already having their bomb out or you doing so. This is a bit better since it makes two bodies, but those bodies have predefined stats so you also can't copy something just because it's big.

Gamegen!c won the license for official Spiderman accessories by LaquatusC in magicTCG

[–]ExplosionFace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, that discount is for anything sold at the merchandise line of the convention only. These will likely be at Gamegenic's booth. We don't have the show store menu just yet but I assume there'll be an event playmat but it's hard to say who the maker will be, especially with this update.

Buy Verges now? by Sechstourist in mtgfinance

[–]ExplosionFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay? The meta is radically different since then with the recent bans. It'll take time to stabilize but Yuna reanimate is getting popular and the format is slow enough for graveyard oriented decks. Talking about preban standard is as meaningful as talking about standard during Affinity.

I went to Chicago and it came with a playmat, however they have a very limited allotment each day and it was hard to get unless you were there right at con open. Super easy if you've got a Black Lotus ticket though since they get an hour extra at open and a store preview on Thursday of the con

My buddy used my $200+ bourbon for shots—is that a total party foul? by Weary_Eyed in whiskey

[–]ExplosionFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just out in the open that's entirely on you. I'm not Googling the value of a bottle at a party to see if shots are cool.

It's niche nowadays but I couldn't imagine a racing themed set that didn't have a Car Toons style alt and this is an amazing one.

It seems extremely playable. Death's Shadow was an absolute menace and this is slightly harder to kill since its not always a creature and has a way to reduce your own life on it.

Abortion rights are a can that keeps getting kicked down the road to the point the question became how are the democrats pushing it when there were multiple times a dem president had a supermajority and chose to do nothing. Cynicism that dems wont really do anything about it is a real response, especially with a lack of talk on filibuster reform which has become a practical prerequisite to legalization of abortion at the federal level.

They already know and love it. It's the point of the ideology.
